True. People need to get behind Simms. He is talented and will be good with more experience. Everybody around here expects QBs to be as good as Peyton. The pick was one of the most common picks in Football. Peyton did it in Florida on a game winning drive. Tebow did it to eric Berry two years ago. Hell Atlantas QB did it today against the steelers. It happens. Whenever our guys make a mistake alot of people jump in and say screw it we cant win a game. Fire the coaches. Evry single great team has a few years of Domination and then a couple of rebuilding. We were screwed by Kiffin and Fulmer just fell behind. We must give Dooley the support for 3 years to build a program. Last night they were ranked 7th and we arent ranked. Only Tennessee fans expected us to win no one else. Give them some support and time. WE WILL BE GOOD AGAIN.

Find a replay of the game and watch the fourth down throw that got batted at the line. Had it not been knocked down, it was headed to the endzone for another pick 6. We can't throw across the middle because of his inability to throw over coverage. It was apparent in the Martin game that touch passes over the middle are out of the question. We beat the safety deep in that game several times and were unable to connect. He throws a very flat ball. Therefore, we have to throw it outside of the defense instead of over it. I don't know how we can get any better until this problem is fixed. Hopefully Simms can get better at it.

I asked the same question during the game. Never would throw through the middle. We just couldnt move the ball at all!

Why we never threw the ball into the middle of the field? I never saw once when we did a slant route or post or anything. And why did we run it almost every play Ben when they had seven guys on the line? Just wondering thanks guys and my final thought it that we have a better chance at beating Florida but we need the crowd into it. GO to the game and GO VOLS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

In his presser today, Dooley said it was by design. He said that Oregon created a lot of turnovers over the middle and so they wanted to avoid passes over the middle.

Simms stares his wr's down..if he throws over the middle it is an int waiting to happen..he has to get some confidence and the ability to look off or the middle of the field will be void for UT this year

I saw this too from section ZZ ...Simms sets his laser sight eyes and fires....Dolley has yet to notice ...

Do you have any concerns about Simms staring down his receivers?
"I haven't really had that concern too much. Are you referencing the batted balls or are you referencing -- what leads you to think that?"

Cut coached Tee that way in 1998 and Ainge that way in 2006.. play caller has to believe his QB can make decisions on throws without getting interceptions.. that is answer and the # 2 would be handled exact same way (remember throw in UTM game down middle)

Is Stocker ill or something? Our one proven weapon is a non factor in both games so far ...

He has had a shoulder injury. I'm not sure how much it is still bothering him, if any at all.

DD and Chaney both said most of him staring dowing the WR is by design, but, I'm not so sure. I think their play calling is very limited with Simms at the Helm and they are just not wanting to come out and say it.

Oregon squeezed the offense because they finally figured out they weren't going to throw it down field. Florida will do the same except with a better secondary.

Once they changed their defense at the half, our success running the ball was nil. and we sure couldn't pass the ball. I'm curious to see if DD let Chaney handle ALL the play calling on Sat. or takes a closer look.
