I was just wondering if anyone else saw the men's basketball scrimmage on saturday. I was there, and I was pretty impressed with all of our new players. I know it wasn't a real game, but they all look like they will be able to contribute.

Anyone that went care to give a player-by-player report? I think freak did something like this last year for the scrimmages that were the same day of the football games...

No problem... I wasn't asking for you specifically to do it again, just anyone that went. :)

Brian Williams- The most impressive to me. He got almost every rebound. He may be one of the missing pieces, and he also seemed to move pretty well.

Cameron Tatum- I saw him shoot five threes, he made all of them.

JP Prince- Had several alley-oop dunks. He had one dunk on Chism where it looked like he was trying to tear the rim off.

Ramar Smith- Had some good fast break dunks, looked pretty good handling the ball.

Tyler Smith- Other than the fact that I realized he kinda looks like Dave Chappelle, he wasn't that impressive. It looked like he wasn't trying to score, just pass and assist.

Everyone else- The rest of the team looked average. Niether Lofton or Jujuan Smith shot the ball well, Chism had one good block and one good dunk, That was it.

Side note: Duke Crews was in street clothes and didn't play. Chism and Childress had a little arguement where Chism told Childress that he shot too many threes and that he needed to "give the inside some". It sounded kinda harsh. When Childress sat down, Howell asked him what that was all about and Childress just shrugged his shoulders. It was pretty funny. I also saw CBP with the recruits before it started. There were four guys, all about the same height(6-6 to 6-8). They closed the part of the scrimmage where they played, so I didn't get to see them. If anyone has any other questions I will be happy to answer as best I can.

thx for the update.

Brian Williams the most impressive? good stuff. My impression is that he has a really good basketball IQ - if he develops physically, he could be a gem.

Tyler Smith is a player.

Tyler can and will score when he wants to, hes just trying to get everyone the ball since hes probably the best player on the team. Yes I do believe is a better all around better player than lofton is.

When is the next scrimmage that is open

I would've gone Saturday, but couldn't.

Chris Lofton will be a first team all-american this year.

3Bomber5, I really wanted to go to the scrimmage, but I could not find any parking. How did you take care of this problem? I came early and it seemed that no one knew it was a basketball scrimmage. I drove around for a long while and it just did not work out for me and my kids. Thanks for the updates! :good!:

Did you see Leslie McDonald and any of the other recruits play in some pick-up games?
He told me today he was on a team with JaJuan and Wayne, and he was guarding Lofton when he sank a three in his face.

What all did Leslie have to say about his visit?

He really liked it up there. He had fun playing against our players like Wayne and Chris, and I think playing against someone like Lofton can give him a lot of confidence and also show what he needs to work on. And all that will improve him so much, cuz he is the hardest worker I have seen in person. He enjoyed the football game a lot. He had a few pictures of him on the football field.
I think it was a big plus to get him up there for an unofficial because today showed how sought after he will be (Coach Cal coming to lunch; rumors around the basketball team have said Coach Williams and Coach K will visit soon).
I talk to him a lot at school so if he says anything else, I'll report it.

I just saw the recruits on thier way in. No one was allowed to go in while they played, some kind of NCAA rule is what they told us. I didn't get to go in until after the recruits were done, which was only about 30 min. And as for parking, me and my wife just decided to spend the whole day there, so we parked at Calhoun's.
