did any mizzu fans comment on the atmosphere?

All I'm saying is that the (very vocal) minority is growing at a fast clip and that is a result of the breakdown of the moral fabric of our shared society. When I was a kid, most of the adults around me would address the idiot fan spewing out vile filth. Yes, I still heard it- but it was much more rare and, more importantly, it got ADDRESSED and corrected.

Now you've got vendors walking around yelling the F word in order to sell their shirts that say the same thing! I told the guy he just said what he said while standing beside a six year old and he laughed.

You are trying to turn an isolated bad experience that you had into something bigger.

The barometer for the integrity of our moral fabric as a society is not, and should not be, Neyland Stadium.

It is a rowdy environment (still tame compared to other SEC venues) where 100k people, most of which are drunk, come together to cheer on their team in one of the most violent sports that is played.

I hate that your kid heard "bad words" but come on... this is over the top.

Hey guys! I was posting before the game, and I am just now getting the chance to post after.

All I can say is WOW! When I walked into the stadium and saw it for the 1st time, I was beyond impressed. I have been to a lot of road games before watching my Tigers, and I thought that I have seen some great massive stadiums/fans, i.e. Nebraska, Oklahoma, Texas, Texas A&M, and etc....but you guys smoke anyone of those. For the 1st time, I actually found a college stadium that I could compare to Arrowhead where the KC Chiefs play. It was just so impressive.

It was hands down, the best game day experience I have ever had. I can not even think of another Stadium that could compare anywhere (and I have been to a lot). The DJ you had, the thing you did on 3rd downs, watching your dog run out on the field, the history of UT, and etc.....were are all really cool.
Other than the Texas A&M marching band, you guys are the 2nd best marching band I have seen.
Fans were great...treated us well before the game, during the game, and after. I was very impressed with it.
I would honestly have to say that the Ole Miss game was better before the game....but during the game, it was the best time I have ever had at a road game.
Like I stated before the game, win or lose...I am just sooooo glad that my Mizzou Tigers are in the SEC and not the little 12 anymore.
I will be 100% coming back in 2 years.

My family and I were at the game. There were several Mizzou fans sitting all around us. With the exception of one complete drunk idiot, all of them were great. They were amazed at the stadium and were shocked at the reported attendance. They could not understand why we were disappointed at the size.

I don't understand why everyone is saying the crowd was quiet. I sat in the same section (PP) the last two weeks and this week was 100x louder than Kentucky. You couldn't hear anything when we had them pinned on 3rd down, especially deep in their own territory. So I'm not sure why our section was so loud and everyone else's wasn't. Oh well.

I hate when I sit in PP

I'm with you.. I was 14 rows up in section O and it was so loud you couldn't hear each other talk.

Let me say this, even though we were losing real bad all of them were supportive and said we will get better!

This is depressing.....UT fans getting comforted by Mizzou fans.

:cray: I am so sad, so very very sad.

After my super positive experience with opposing fans, I was interested in this question myself...I welcomed every Mizzou fan I encountered at the game and today when I met some at Ober Gatlinburg, I posed that question...overwhelmingly thumbs up for our friendliness and courtesy. :yahoo:

I only went to two games this year. Utah St and Florida. The crowd was amazing both games! I was in my living room Saturday night raising both arms like Maggitt trying to get the crown louder. It just didn't seem very loud to me.

I know that place was rocking, but I didn't talk to any mizzu fans after the game.

i just got approved to post so pardon my flurry of responses to so many threads....first off, you guys have the most beautiful stadium i have ever seen, wow...:thud:

everyone i talked to said that vols fans were great, and the few who talked about the water bottle incidents said that yall berated your student section and shielded mizzou fans from being hit with them.

you guys are known as some of the most respectful fans in the SEC, lot of great story's about fans hosting each other during road games the last few years, showing them around and hosting them. thank you all for being terrific college football fans win lose or overtime.

in short, you guys are on the cusp of excellence, everyone can see it, great recruits, and your coach is so calm and reflective, an intelligent dude from the press conference i saw after the game, we were way older and grungier this year, but you guys are getting tougher with a young ass team....next year you guys are playing for the division champ spot on your last conference game...i just hope we have the tie breaker

go vols, and beat vandy

I was at both of those games as well and I found the Utah State game to be louder. I will say that my section was pretty quiet for the Florida game making it seem not as loud
