When is the last time you have seen one of these Coaches develop a player, the head coach has shown me nothing as far as coaching, game preparation, or developing a player. There seems to be more going on that we know at the present time.

Wouldn't say that. He bolted mid season. Still, hate this happened but life goes on.

more so attitude than leaving -- her dad also was a vocal parent like Hurds mom and step dad were --- still dont get why she didnt just opt for the WNBA draft in the first place though

Wow! Major blow to the program. As if we needed another person to depart from the lady vol program. I know Diamond is the most hated by some lady vol fans, as evidenced by some of the hateful, spiteful, comments made about her, on this board, and a few others. Diamond leaving,as well as Middleton, and Cooper, will hurt this program this year IMO.

I wished Diamond would stay on this year. Hate to see her go. But I am also glad she is leaving so that she won't continue to be the scapegoat for everything that is wrong with the lady vol demise, which has been happening a few years before she actually came aboard.

The optics of these departures, for whatever reasons, don't look good!

Best of luck to Diamond. Disappointed that her Lady Vol career was a short hot mess!

The Lady Vols will now take on a new look.

Jaime & Mercedes will have to lead the way.

It will be an interesting season but all is not lost LV fans. We still have some great players to watch.

Bye Diamond.....Thanks for trying!:salute:

GOLadyVols! :)

Nared has really improved. Russell is slowly getting better. Not saying Holly is a good coach.

I really don't see a resurgence of the program until Holly is gone. It now appears she let a few selfish players run things the last couple of seasons. She didn't step in and take control or send them packing. Finally they are gone on their own.
Now were down to ten players and four or them are freshmen and one is injured plus two haven't proved capable of playing at this level.
If we have another double digit loss season Holly should be gone we need new leadership and a different direction. This is her put up or shut up season. Still plenty of talent at least two freshmen will start so here we go Holly needs to produce a great season or we need her gone.

This team will not come close to the final four. The program is a freakin' mess and has been for years.

eh, they been kind of a enigma the last few years. They win games they shouldn't (on paper) win, they lose game they shouldn't (on paper) lose. Would not be surprised if they made a run to the final four. That said, I guess I would also not be surprised if they didn't make the tournament.

Good choice for DD. People will now see how Holly can coach and perhaps open their eyes and see how Horrible her head coaching skills are. I don't think Holly will be able to endure the season with a group of freshmen and have success at the end. Once again, good choice Diamond!

Mercedes Russell and Jaime Nared are both good cases while they werent consistent as we would like they both have developed into better players...

What do you do with a roster that is thin with 10 players? Do you try and get a transfer who is still out there and can play immediately? It is not the decision that DD made but the timing of it because Holly/staff might could have gotten a transfer or two in here to help bolster the ranks. I mean she could still get someone in here for second session but if DD has announced in April her intentions then would have helped. If Cooper's punishment had a factor because she wanted to play with cooper then blame her... on the other hand she may have been offered money she can't pass up which I don't blame either recently. All in all maybe instead of playing Baylor, Texas, Stanford and Notre Dame you play two out of the 4. Because the roster is much younger than expected. Texas would be home and is a long standing series and so is Stanford while going to Cali (maybe a good trip for Decosta to come see the LV play is she decides to sign late). Just trying to look at every angle. I know with ND I may not schedule them for the out of conference during the conference season because I would want the freshman to have one focus. We are going to be playing SC, State, along with GA. Not to be mistaken I know we have SC at home but this may be the year w play them twice too..

This season will be interesting. It may tell us a lot about what was wrong the last two years. What is the common denominator for the two worst seasons win loss wise of the Lady Vols. Is that common denominator Holly and staff or a couple of players stirring the pot. Time will tell.

Exactly nothing has changed much except Diamond want be playing. Cooper didn't play last year and wasn't very good the year she did play. Maybe they were more trouble than they were worth and that is what will be proven. It will either be Holly or them. No reason we still shouldn't be an SEC contender and at least advance to the elite 8 or higher.

This team will be young but losing DD is a good thing. If HW can coach now is the time. No volume shooting unhapp looking turnover machine to get in the way.

I don't see how losing the best player on the team, warts and all, would be a good thing. She could be a hot mess, but without her last season, they were on the same level as a cellar dwelling SEC team. Her presence will be missed.

It does present a great opportunity for someone like Rennia Davis to step into her spot and allow for accelerated development. But it is likely that she will also have her share of problems since she is a freshman, and it's unlikely that she will be able to produce the same way an experienced but flawed Diamond could.

When her buddy T'ea Cooper left the writing was on the wall for Diamond.

If Diamond chose to stay at Tennessee because she wanted to play with Te'a (and it's sure looking like that was the case), then it wasn't a smart decision on her part. Her prerogative, but still not a smart decision. Probably once Te'a left, then she realized her mistake.

Diamond may be gone but all is not lost. Talent wise, I think the road to the final four just got harder but not impossible. We could be between very good to not good enough. A lot will depend upon how fast the coaches can develop the number one class, we stay fairly injury free, the leadership skills of Russell and Nard and their ability to lead by example. The problem is, I have seldom seen Russell or Nard consistently show leadership skills. Actually I seldom saw Diamond display the leadership skills necessary to lead.

I hate to say I told you so, but I told you so. Several times this last year or so I have stated my doubts as to the 'team" value of Diamond. For me she has seemed to be the thorn in the side of everything on and of the court for this team. Going back to Pat (which I hate to do, because there is no way of knowing how she might have reacted) I wonder how she would have handled Diamond. I think she would have sat her down and let her stay down, regardless of public opinion. (holly could not do this because she is not Pat with her power and success)

DD and Tea have wanted to play together since their recruiting days!!!! Diamonds' synopsis of how she wanted to help the freshmen and bring UT back to prominence was BS full of flowers and perfume! JMO

When Tea's situation resulted in her exodus.... Diamond had no desire to play without her for her last year??? I believe Diamond thought things could have been handled better than kicking Tea out of school ? So she is punishing the university, coach , etc. By leaving too !!??!! JMO

You think she's punishing the school for how they handled Te'a, or just lost her incentive to stick around for another year?
