is it me or has devrin young even gotten worse? seems like since the alabama game he has been scared to hit the hole full speed and just tap dances like david oku did. i guess he scared of getting hit. i hope he can be his old self next year if everyone in front of him would actually engage and block.

If only it were that easy. There's too much going on with this team and special teams in particular to point the finger at Young. I'm just glad to have a return man who can catch the ball.

Young did a good job this year. At least I wasn't sitting on the edge of my seat every time somebody punted wondering if we were going to muff the punt.

Yes, I believe Alabama knocked the nerve out of Young. He has looked more tentative the more experience he has, just like the rest of the team.

Nothing wrong with Young. You have to have great blocking on special teams to get anywhere. Also, yesterday, Ky had a hell of a kicker. Almost everything that guy kicked was either non returnable or in the endzone.

doesn't help that everyone else in the SEC has figured out how to punt the ball more than 35 yards. he looks surprised everytime he has to back up to receive the punt. guess he's used to our guy shankin' and poochin the ball in practice.

I swear, here at Tennessee we need to replace the word "Returner" with "Catcher" so the position now reads "Kickoff/Punt Catcher". I wish Young the best but I predict that he'll never be a able to score a TD on what is supposed to be "returned".

TIMID is the best way I can describe our Special Teams. There's no fire. No fearlessness. No confidence. It's been that way through all the coaching changes. Can't explain it for the life of me. Unfortunately that "timidity" seeps over into the rest of the phases of our team...

I have noticed all of our runners have learned to prance and dodge instead of running with authority

Devrin Young will improve he's a freshman last year he was playing highschool ball in front of what 8000 people the most i am not sure how many attend bearden high school games...what i dont like is only using him on special teams and those stupid speed sweeps which are predictable..in the lsu game he actually ran the ball from the tailback position...lets face it he is a freshman and a little undersized to be in there as an every down back but my god try to spark your team with something different...set up a screen or something.....

He's got a lot of potential, but he lets way too many punts hit and roll, and he's had some really questionable touchbacks that were barely across the goal line.
