the kid is a solid returner...nothing more..nothing less...i guess when your season is going this bad and a local kid gets on the field its all people can talk about or try to pump them up as the world's greatest...just because marlin lane was terrible at returns doesnt mean young is great because he is average...LOL

Why do you LOL everything you say? Do you think your funny or is it a sign of your intelligence? Devrin deserves some credit, he is obviously a huge step up for our return game and if used correctly can be a nice weapon on offense. LOL :p

I'm speaking based on the first half because I had to leave before the second. I think the shuffle pass was one of the major highlights of our offensive drives and obviously we can see what he does on kickoffs. He had a few runs for little gain or loss but those were mostly to the outside where everyone knows LSUs defense can stop you. Now with zack rodgers disappointing play and the run game possibly starting to pick up, do you think we should use Devrin Young more as a reciver and a running back?

I'm definitely in favor of DY getting more touches. The problem is finding him situations, other than special teams, to get him into the gameplan. I did like the shovel pass yesterday.

NO..not because he lacks anything but because he brings us so many things on special teams now and he is just a frshman...he got dinged bad yesterday..Dooley said he was dizzy..I would continue his on special teams and get him few reps on offense here and there..wait till next season or probably next one until he gets little tougher..He is going to be a monster of a running back..lets not waste him this season and get him hurt..

See I think we could design rb or bubble screens for him. I think if we could find a way to get the ball in his hands first and give him some blocking then he would be able to make something happen. He just needs to get some better cleats :loco:

I'd say no. He needs the ball 7-10 times on offense and no more. He needs a year in the weight room before he can physically take the beating that comes with increased touches.

idk about running the rock more, but he definitely deserves to get a shot at screens or a few quick shuttle passes, those were working in the first half, dont know why we didnt try it after.

Glad he is playing well for us. But I hope people saw what will happen to him at RB. He got smashed into by LSU. Not because he has no ability but he's too small for Rb down here full time. He at least runs hard though. Poole had huge holes yesterday but he still was going down off arm tackles a lot.

This helps explain the Kimbrow situation. I really doubt CDD wants an every down RB that size.

He brought a spark, that's for sure. I also see why he has a reputation for fumbling. He waves the ball around while he's running and making cuts. I know that it helps his balance coming out of cuts, but that is a major liability. Until he shows that he can keep it high and tight, I think his touches stay limited.

IMO, no, he doesn't need more touches than he's getting at the RB spot. He's not big enough to take those hits consistently throughout the game when ball carrying and then blocking. In the post-game show even CDD said that after one of DY's runs, he got up kinda dazed from the shot they took on him. He said they're going to "continue to experiment" [with DY at the RB spot], but I seriously doubt we see him getting more touches than he got yesterday for the remainder of the season, especially if Lane is a viable option at backup to give Poole a breather.

Are we talking about dance moves or relay races here? Please learn the correct terminology. It's called a shovel pass.

The only reason that Z. Rogers is starting is because he has the offense down and knows the checks and routes better than Arnett and Dallas. Think about how much Hunter had played at this point last season. Once those two get the offense down and find their groove, Rogers will be out of a job. He plays himself out of reps every week with his drops.

Young and Lane need to get some screen passes. I think next year after more time in the weight room, these two will be our Rainey and Demps.
