I spent some time as a full time firefighter. When we would get the rare call to get a cat out of a tree, we would ask people if they had ever seen a cat skeleton in a tree...no you say? Well they obviously get down on their own.

We dont get cats from trees where I work, we
spray em down from the tree. It's like a game to us.

There are some lazy departments out there though. Some that make us all look bad. Oh well, what do you do.

The problem is that you will never be able to convince the general public how demanding a job being a firefighter really is. All they see are station tours, and safety talks...they don't see the 2am structure fire with people hanging out of windows after you have spent all day trying to make the tax payers happy.

Yep brotha I do that type of firefighting where I'm at here in Memphis. You're right about the public they just see us sitting around and washing our cars. Too bad they can't see us working the kid that just got shot or the family member in cardiac arrest.

I hate it that y'all feel that way. Firefighters are heros to so many people. Loud mouths that say other wise aren't the ones you should listen to. Just like college football fans. :)

Thanks Volly, I'm not saying all just saying mostly the Gov't level the ones cutting our pay and benifits. Your words do mean alot.
