Destiny

Hirshberg also said on the earnings call that the "biggest content addition yet to the Destiny universe" will come in the second half of this year. "We’re confident it’s going to be incredibly appealing not just to our current fans, but also to people who haven’t yet joined the Destiny universe," said Hirshberg. "It’s going to be that big of an expansion."

20 million people have played Destiny, says Activision | The Verge

Man I just picked this game up again. Forgot how good it is (besides the story).

A couple friends convinced me to start running a couple things with them after I quit for a couple months. Not putting in the time I used to but I still get on and run a couple nightfalls/weeklies and a couple raids on the weekend.

Got carried thru the boss on crota and thru the first part of VOG.........getting carried sucks.........I want to be able to do some damage on these soon........

Crota is the easier of the two IMO but I like the complexity of VoG

I got lots of Wire last night. Then upgraded the wrong armor piece. So, still at 30 for a few more hours of gameplay on the Hunter.

Bungie said yesterday HoW would not activate til 1pm (EST) or later on release day. This seems a bit strange and people are wondering about the nightfall, etc. on that day. Guess we'll have to see how that plays out since it should be the new Thief strike on the NF....but it wont be out at reset.....hmmmmm....

Some info on how super perks in fact do stack. Me, big daddy, and glancing had what one of them called an orbgy the other night
Remember, the times below do not factor in picking up a single orb from your teammates, when this is chained it gets ridiculous. Remember when someone activates their super to stop shooting, you're stealing orbs from yourself
Hello fellow guardians!

I originally posted this on the Bungie forums but there, they seem to care more about flaming each other than actual Destiny information. So here we go! My second Reddit post EVER!

If you want to learn about weapon damage and other fun facts, check out my FIRST Reddit post ever here:

Weapon Damage Explained (with SCIENCE!) : DestinyTheGame

The following experiment was performed to determine once and for all the following things:

By how much does the "increased super energy gained from killing minions of the darkness" perk found on some gear actually decrease your super time?

By how much does each kill on the String of Curses perk found on Bad JuJu decrease your super time?

And, most of all:

Do these perks stack???
First, I had to figure out how Intellect played into charging your super. So I timed how long it took to fully charge my super after first landing from orbit at varying levels of intellect without killing any minions. Timer started the moment I could see my super bar on-screen and ended the moment that the "super charged" message & tone came up. All times posted from here on are accurate to +/- 1 second.

0% Intellect: 5:30
50% (135) Intellect: 4:40
100% (271) Intellect: 3:55
100% (428) Intellect: 3:54
(Note: Your Intellect/Discipline/Strength reaches 100% at exactly 271 points)

From this, we can see that Intellect decreases your total super charge time by about 1 minute 35 seconds, or 29%, and that charge time decreases fairly linearly with increasing Intellect.

Next, I repeated the above experiment, but kept my Intellect at a constant 98% (267 points) and added in 10 minion (acolyte) kills with various combinations of the following gear/weapons equipped: Prime Zealot Helm (PZH), Don't Touch Me (DTM), & Bad JuJu. All of these have perks that further decrease your super cooldown with minion kills to varying degrees. The question is, by how much, and do their perks stack? All data collected was from exactly 10 acolyte-only kills, and the times were recorded as explained above.

Control (0 kills): 3:56
No gear: 3:28
DTM: 3:04
PZH: 3:04
DTM + PZH: 2:39
JuJu: 2:18 (holy crap!)
DTM + JuJu: 1:53
PZH + JuJu: 1:52
DTM + PZH + JuJu: 1:26 (awwwww yeah!!!)
First off, I'd like to say HELL YES THEY ALL FREAKING STACK!!! Ahem... now then...

Now here are the same variables, calculated for the time taken off super per kill (in seconds):

No gear: 2.8
DTM: 5.2
PZH: 5.2
DTM + PZH: 7.7
JuJu: 9.8
DTM + JuJu: 12.3
PZH + JuJu: 12.4
DTM + PZH + JuJu: 15 (FIFTEEN!!!)
So with some human error taken into consideration (again, all my times are +/- 1 second) and some rounding, we can see that each piece of gear knocks off roughly 2.5 seconds per seconds per acolyte kill, JuJu knocks off roughly 7.5 seconds, and their effects are additive.

After seeing the data, I think we can all agree on one thing... BAD JUJU NEEDS A NERF NOWZ!!!! But seriously, I fell in love with the post-buff JuJu a couple weeks before doing all this, and now I think I know why :)

Thank you all for reading!

EDIT: No Gunfighter perk was used during testing

Also, the orbs you pick up are not always the same

SGA: Killing enemies to fill your Super makes you generate Orbs of Light that are twice as powerful as those generated from a Super that was filled from other Orbs of Light [Video Breakdown] (self.DestinyTheGame)

Destiny - Why It Takes 6 to 12 Orbs to Super [1:43]: http://youtu.be/csQe7W1ucMI

EDIT: Killing enemies results in orbs with the same potency as those wherein the Super recharged over time.

Also, I didn't dedicate the time to figure out what happens if a Super is partially filled with Orbs.

My guess is that the relationship is linear, meaning if your Super was generated:

00.0% from Orbs: Your Orbs are 16.7% effective (6 Total)
16.7% from Orbs: Your Orbs are 14.3% effective (7 Total)
33.3% from Orbs: Your Orbs are 12.5% effective (8 Total)
50.0% from Orbs: Your Orbs are 11.1% effective (9 Total)
66.7% from Orbs: Your Orbs are 10.0% effective (10 Total)
83.3% from Orbs: Your Orbs are 09.1% effective (11 Total)
100% from Orbs: Your Orbs are 08.3% effective (12 Total)

If I was playing alone every night I probably wouldn't still be into it. But, I do still enjoy bs'ing with a few friends and shooting stuff in Destiny. I don't think any other game offers a co-op experience that is better.

It's just that it's so repetitive. I haven't played in about 2 months. And I have no desire to fight the Archeon Priest or Crota or Atheon or whoever.

I'm probably done with the game. HoW will just add a little content that will also become repetitive.

I can't think of one game that isn't repetitive off hand. Racing games all have a few tracks and cars essitiallly are the same. FPS get boring with PvP same maps. Sports games are the basis of repetition.

Destiny is way more flare than substance. I played the game A LOT, like way too much. Once I had all characters to 32 and had every exotic (save the Nechro) I lost interest completely.

The paywall their about to release is going to have 3 missions, right? And that's the new content for the next 4-5 months and that's if they release the next update on time.

It's a fun game but all the missions are the same. Fight a few waves then a scaled up bullet sponge of an enemy you just fought.
