Despite our best efforts.... somehow we're still ranked

Just more evidence that Butch is underappreciated by this site , IMO.

Pretty sure he had an ungodly amount of support until he decided to put a terrible product on the field this year. Filling up a 100+ stadium each week with asinine ticket prices say otherwise too

No extension. He's already booked through 2020.

Get an AD hired that discusses with Jones the valid concerns being expressed by the base, like how this team finished no better than last year's.

Perhaps Vandy isn't as bad as everyone thought and the voters recognized it. Couldn't decide if I should blue font or not.

Maybe everybody has some losses and we have some good wins (VT and UF) and we have some tough games we lost (#1 Bama and A&M on the road). We just pay attention to UT more than others. We are not that bad and we are not good enough yet either. Sometimes it's just not your year. Sucks none the less, but we didn't get any breaks after App St ending, unless you count Cam breaking his ankle in a meaningless game. . . .

Guess we stayed in like the ugly girl left hanging around the bar at midnight ...you shrug your shoulders and hope no one sees you leaving with her

Nope,

We looked good at first but the regulars knew we had a few flaws.

I thought we played like trash all season, I was having mild heart attacks every single game, including App. State, Ohio, Florida, UGA, USC, and Vandy. I did not see any progress in Team 120, I actually thought we took a step back and regressed. We looked flat, lacked motivation, were unable to execute, secondary could not cover ANYBODY, and there was no development in talent. The team never seemed to be able to put a complete game together, our best half of football, in my opinion, was the 2nd half of Florida, and that team never showed itself again. I could accept the Alabama and TA&M losses, but the losses to USC and Vandy were inexcusable. It's not only the fact that we were upset in those games, it's the way in which we lost those games, our talent advantage, and what was at stake (SEC East and Sugar Bowl). While we may not have the depth and talent as other top teams just yet, I can clearly tell when this coaching staff is holding us back and this season showed it more then ever. Our coaches are not putting this team and program in the best position for success and lack consistency. We were out coached all season.

Offense and defense flat out of the gate and showed signs of losing to teams they shouldn't. Without injuries. Opening day.

Now you know.

Still 5-0 until injuries. Your post was how the record was the same. Without injuries we win A&M, SC and Vandy. AppSt a good team as was Ohio. Yes we were flat but found a way to win. Injuries took that ability away.

I agree, and I know it is not realistic to look back and say "well we could have lost that game, won that one, etc." But I still think, injuries included, that this season showed exactly how far Butch is in over his head and how our coaching staff couldn't out coach a bunch of drooling llamas. We are Tennessee, we have talent and depth on the roster now, we shouldn't be going into overtime with App State when Miami beats them 45-10 with a lot of freshman and then put 28 up on mighty Ohio. We couldn't outscore one of the worst offenses in the country at USC nor stop their phenomenal high school QB, and at Vandy we allow a freshman QB, with one of the worst efficiency ratings coming into the game, to set career highs and score their most points against an SEC opponent since 1971. Our coaching staff simply sucks. They cannot make adjustments and Butch obviously does not understand Xs and Os. We are out coached by every single staff we go against. I honestly feel bad for our players.

We had a team that was picked to win the SEC East. We had expectations. And they failed. While injuries contributed to this season, that should not have caused us to be unable to compete with the SEC East bottom dwellers. And the funny thing is that Butch still had a chance to get us to the Sugar Bowl and make this season a little easier to swallow, but failed to do that as well. In between Butch's terrible cliches and the inexcusable losses, this season was an embarrassment to Tennessee football.

Yep. Nice work on this.
