DeSean Jackson the real deal?

Look guys, occording to espn and the newspapers, this guy is pretty good. I personally wouldn't know since the only game I've ever seen him play in was against us last year. But what I am wondering is. Is he a Calvin Johnson type reciever? Or is he even as good as Meachem? I mean, why is he rated the #1 WR in the nation by some critics? Maybe because the WR position as a whole in college football is having a down year and he is the best that it has to offer? :dunno:

He's nothing like Calvin Johnson, not that physical, he's more like Tedd Ginn but a better route-runner and just as explosive.

Not even close. He's a fine player, but not nearly as good as Johnson. I'd rather have Meach than Jackson too.

He'll need to have one hell of a game for him to beat Tennessee singlehandedly.

The only game I really remember him in was the Army All American HS game. I thought he was the fastest thing on the field that day. Other than that I have paid no attention to his college career. He chose Cal so he could thrive in a conference that is allergic to defense.

He's really not that type of player. He will have a big impact, but because of his size if he was our only decent receiver you could shut him down by double or triple teaming him. He has 4 punt returns for tds in 29 tries btw.

The video is impressive.We will have our work cut out for us saturday night trying to slow him down.

I would love to have DeSean Jackson playing for UT. He's about the only one though. :)

maybe bush if he was only a receiver. that's why I laughed when i heard herbstreet say before the holiday bowl that desean would take the game over. It's not as though he's a rb and get's 30 touches a game. Tedford will have to work hard making sure he regurally gets the ball in deseans hands. Thankfully he will be retuning punts and kick offs too. Expect at least one major return if phil desides to kick to him.

thanks droski for the info, I also didn't know how good he was but from everything I'm hearing he is pretty explosive and a top caliber player, but I agree with you he shouldn't get enough touches to take over the game.

That makes sense. I should have payed attention to his weight. Had I known that, I wouldn't have compared him to the likes of Meachem & Johnson. But I do now know why it would be so difficult to cover him 1 on 1 due to his exceptional speed and rout running

shouldn't be many punts to return, he may be too worn out from returning kicks to even play receiver.:peace2:

if he has very many punt returns then i'll be upset at 2 things... 1. our offense can't score on a pourus Cal defense and 2. why the heck are we kicking to him anyways?
