If Derek truly cares about the University of Tennessee, he should:

1) Look himself in the mirror and admit that he is in over his head.
2) Call a press conference for this afternoon and resign effective at the end of this season. That way, Hart will have plenty of time to pick the cream of the crop for the new job.
3) Thank the university for the opportunity of a lifetime. Show appreciation by waiving the $5 million dollar buyout. Let us be honest....he has done nothing to earn that money. At least Phil earned his buyout money.

Derek.....I trust that you will do the right thing here. You can land a job at a mid-major and perhaps have some success in 6-8 years. Thank you for your service.

Wishful thinking. What he should do and what he will do are unfortunately two different things.

He's not giving up his buyout.

If he was a true man, he should. We have already given him close to six million dollars for three years of repeated failures. He should be grateful for the opportunity that we provided him. Be classy....show appreciation by telling us to use that five million toward a new coach.

No person in the world would give up that buyout!

Bill Haslam would give up that buyout. Derek is already a multi-millionaire. If he waives the buyout, it is not like he is going to have to go get in the line at the soup kitchen.

In fact, I would contend that is one of Derek's biggest issue. He came from a family that is in the top 2% moneywise. He is a blue blood and doesnt relate well to the average player. Vince and Barbara live in a huge house. Derek is married to a doctor who is loaded and also comes from money. What is five million when you already have a zillion dollars. The university needs that money a lot more than Derek does. Plus, he can get another job.

think about this. he has been paid 6 million over the past three years. if (when) we fire him, he gets a 5 million payout. that is 11 million dollars for 3 years worth of work. who says we couldnt have come up with enough money to pay a big time coach.

5 Mil buyout?

How many years and for how much did we sign this joker for?

It's been for seasons with no results and we'll still owe million?

I am missing something here I guess. Some share the details with me.
