Derek Mason thinks Vandy beat themselves?

Mason is an idiot. I was at a UT-Vandy b-ball game in Nashville the year he was hired. He spoke at half time to the crowd and I couldn't believe how stupid he sounded. Definitely not head coach material.

If you've ever heard him it would go a lot like, " You know, they played, you know, very much, you know, like we , you know, expected. I mean they didn't really , you know, surprise us with any trick plays, you know, or anything like that. They, are, you know, a young but very talented team, you know, that played up to our challenges, you know.............)

How about, "The best team won, and won in style" or "After tonight's performance, there is NO doubt that the best team in Tennessee is/has been decided". Anything along those lines would have been expected from a class act-he is decidedly not that.:eek:

Well their fan base thinks the refs lost it for them. They think there is a vast conspiracy against them perpetuated by the SEC. I also saw one of them claim the bad condition of our field was intentional because it gives us an advantage since we are used to playing on it. At this point I'm waiting on them to blame there woes on the lizard people from the center of the earth or the illuminati. This loss gets in that entire fanbase's and apparently Mason's craw so bad they will say anything to justify it without giving Tennessee it's due. I love it.

but Ralph Webb is better than Hurd and if the refs weren't so bad then it would be a lot closer and the field was really bad and just wait till Shurmur gets better and we are gonna win 6-8 games next year.

"We were outplayed by a better team. I would like to thank our players for the effort they gave. We have some positives to build on in the offseason. Our young QB in particular played well and Ralph showed what he can do. But give Tennessee and Coach Jones credit for a great win and season. Their running game especially gained our respect by eclipsing our previous yards allowed by 50 yards and posting over 300 yds against us for the first time in over 3 years."

To say they beat themselves is manifestly STUPID. They were thumped and it should have been much worse. The Vol D played very poorly in the first half.

Your vaunted defense just gave up 331 yds rushing and scored at will on them both offensively, defensively and special teams but they beat themselves, what a dumb---
