How does he = Shula? Shula had Alabama competing for a national title. Indiana was patient look at the reward. Maybe we need to give him one more year.

When did this happen? :eek:hmy: You my friend have earned this:

Austin Johnson might as well have been a walk on him and reviez

This is comparing apples to oranges. Crean was a proven coach, Dooley isn't. You've lost this argument. Sorry about it. Go enjoy an adult beverage (assuming you're old enough) and prepare yourself to blindly follow the next head football coach at UT.

Cordarelle Patterson could have been the Cody Zeller - Unfortunately we have a Pop Warner caliber Defense!

This might be the dumbest thread I have ever seen on this site.
Plenty of dumber threads. Peole are just so quick to bash folks and call names like they are some kind of ****ing geniouses. Pathetic. Crean rebuilt a prominent program back up from ****. Dooley has to do the same. The only difference is the sport. Football teams do take longer to rebuild than basketball squads because of overall team size. But not much difference in what they (Crean Dooley) were charged with doing.

Complete fail on all accounts and just because I'm bored, I'll have fun with your post.

1st - Crean came from a major division 1 program and had an unbelievable amount of success.

2nd - He was so well respected, Marquette can pretty much thank him for getting them out of crappy Conference USA into the best basketball conference in the country (until now considering the Big East is falling flat on their face).

3rd - Crean was indeed hammered his first three seasons but not even Tennessee's situation was as bad as IU's when he accepted. They had 2 walk on's and that was it. Everyone else either left or were kicked off the team.

4th - Winning % = over 500

Not even close my friend. :p

Crean was an established coach and winner before getting hired by IU: that's why they hired him, in fact. Dooley's got some qualities I like, but he was not established.

Interesting topic. As you can tell by my name...i have ties to both states/schools. Born in knoxville, family moved to southern Indiana while in grade school and I did go to IU...despite all of my family going to UT. I know...what was I thinking.

There are differences and similarites. The last 5 yrs or so have been brutal for hoosier and vols fans...its been tough for fans of either school...much less both! Both inherited an absolute mess. Crean was more proven...obviously. But there were plenty of crean doubters before last year...saying it was taking too long to see improvements ...cant beat anybody...etc. while there r some differences...trust me...there r a lot of similarities! That being said...i dont see dooley having the vols at #1 anytime soon.
But like another poster...cody zeller is a huge huge part of that. And in bball...one player can make more of a difference than football. And...Indiana has been on fire with local talent and crean has been taking advantage.

Go vols...go hoosiers!!

one of the biggest differences between them is there was a gradual improvement at iu. we have seen no improvement at all at tennessee.

Oh, so that's the problem. Dooley's supposed to be coaching basketball and this whole time we've had him coaching football.

Damn you Mike Hamilton.

Well, I do think Cuonzo would do a better job than Dooley at coaching football. I mean, who the hell wouldn't?

I didn't think it could happen but some posts on here just get dumber and dumber.

Thank God people on here don't run the Tennessee football program.

VFL...GBO!!!
