I don't think Barnett is a top 5 pick but I do think he is top 10 & at worst top 15.

Top 10 for certain I'd imagine. But it just depends on which teams need what in the top 10.

For sure, Cleveland needs a franchise QB.

Good player, however one of his pre draft short comings will be how easy it is for teams to elemenate him, teams have proven his run support is easly negated by influncing him up field on pass rush and run at his vacated spot, guy will be a good pass down guy but, he has to learn sacks are great but he can't take himself out on run plays.

The Browns should draft Barnett as a QB. He can't do any worse than any of the actual QBs they've drafted.

Sometimes in life you laugh because it's funny.

Other times you laugh because it's true.

Walter Football is projecting Trubisky from UNC going to Cleveland as the #1 pick.

ETA: Knowing Cleveland, they will probably go with Chad Kelly.

Michael Bennett has only had 10.0 sacks or more once in his career (last year). He's only made 1 pro-bowl in his career (last year). He has recorded 40.5 sacks in his first 7 seasons as a pro. That's an average of just under 6 sacks a year.

Nice player. But definitely not top 10 pick material. Von Miller, JJ Watt, Justin Houston, etc. Those guys are top 10 pick material. Not a guy who averages around 6 sacks a year.

Those are number one overall guys.
Bennett is a beast against both the run and the pass. You need big time production in the top 10. He gives you that.

He'll be good. Not great.

Michael Bennett (Seahawks) or Charles Johnson (Panthers) are his closest pro comparisons.

This draft is deep with edge rushers. There are several who will have more impact in the NFL.

DB has 50 tackles, 18 TFLs, and 12 sacks with one more game to play.

MB's best college season was 40, 14, and 7.

CJ's best college season was 44, 19, and 9.5.

Barnett is a much better prospect than either of them.

If anyone watches film, they'll see DB getting a crazy amount of attention from opposing offenses all season long, and still netting 12 sacks.

There are good reasons why DB is graded as a mid-high first round pick, CJ was a mid-round pick, and MB was a late round pick.

MB would be solid in any system, but is not a great fit for a lot of systems. You can play DB in any system and he will fit well. He can be a 3-4 or a 4-3 d end, which is huge.

When I say Barnett reminds me of Michael Bennett or Charles Johnson, it has nothing to do with collegiate production. The comparison is based on height, weight, athleticism, and playing style.

Trying to use college production to compare players or to project NFL success is foolhardy.

Not sure why you consider their playing styles comparable. I think DB will be great against the run, just like CJ and MB are, but he is much more explosive and a much better rush prospect than they are/were.

BTW, I was looking at the wrong Michael Bennett's stats...

DB = 31 sacks in 38 games
MB = 6.5 sacks in 48 games

MB didn't even have a sack his senior year.

I can understand your position that college stats aren't a good projection, if they were a few sacks apart. They are light years apart. MB was never supposed to be a good pass rusher. DB might be a better pass rusher than run defender.

Barnett improved dramatically the last 2 seasons against the run guys. He's not just a pass rusher anymore like he was his first two seasons.

He had a lot of nice tackles in the running game & some were even tackles that he ran down from behind too. Showing that he's not slow either as a DE.
