Derek Barnett: "I'm not coming off the field!"

DB should be getting more national recognition IMO. Hopefully in the next 3 weeks on big stages he will make his hay. As usual it was kinda a slow start for him but as the Dline has showed up DB has got going. He had a big game vs Ohio and the 2nd half vs UF the game became his. Dominate performance by another Tennessee bred wrecking ball!

media butt holes got man love for that gnat from T A&M...he's good but he's not DB...

GO VOLS!

Does DB have an inside spin move? I haven't looked for it specifically so don't recall, but if he could get the tackle thinking he's always going around the outside, then bust an inside spin i think he could rack up even more sacks.

Not sure about a spin move but he beat the OT inside on a speed rush on Saturday and made the guy look like he was standing still. Hell a spin on that play would have only slowed him down.

What's the deal with a "really detailed snap count"? Sounds like some "charted" BS that #9 wasn't having any part of, honestly.

Is it just me or did our boys grow up in the FL game?

"This is a team that was not going to be denied."

Let's make this the theme to the whole season, we will NOT be denied!

Unbelievable player, and even better person! You gotta have this kind of leadership to be an elite team, and he is one of those players. Hurd, Dobbs, Kamara, JRM, Kirkland, Sutton, just to name a few! CBJ has done an incredible job of assembling and extended core of talent and it showed last Saturday!

I think it is 'rep count', meaning when they substitute along the line. DB effectively said "forget your rep count, I ain't coming out of the damn game."

John Henderson had that fire as well. I remember asking Fulmer who was going to be the next Big Al as far as leadership goes. His answer was "Well there was a situation after practice where we had a guy or two not puling there weight and Two black eyes from John in the locker room tightened them up" .

Team 117 players VFL and Brentwood Academy grad Alex Bullard was instrumental getting DB to UT. Also team 117 and VFL Tiny Richardson had some influence to get DB to commit.

I know many people love seeing high scoring offenses, but to me there is nothing like a defensive player completely taking over a game. Whether it's a DE or a LB it's truly amazing to watch. DB has put so much pressure on QB's this year.

Reminds me of a fantastic night in 1983 when The Minister of Defense anialated LSU.

He didn't just have the fire. He had some screws loose in his head. Gotta be one of the most terrifying DT's for O-lineman in SEC history.

"The lean he got against the gators is a testament to the hours and hours of work he puts in to be better"
My favorite Butch quote. That simple quote speaks volumes about the attention to detail and work ethic that these young men possess.

Hate this is his last year. He'll do well in the pro's.

It seems like pretty much all of VN thinks every single underclassman we have is going to declare. Surely to goodness we will have a couple of our best players stay, just for the Love of UT!

And the good ones certainly should declare. What JRM and Sutton did was admirable. However, the average career in the NFL is short. Get the money while you can. If Barnett and Hurd don't declare they're doing a disservice to themselves.

Not really, it's their life and a college education is very important to most people. Yes, the risk of injury is always there when you come back, but injuries are a risk period in college or the pros. Hell, there have been pro athletes that have gone back and finished their degrees after being in the league.
