Was told Sims not on initial list of possible replacements but was given highest recommendation from ECU HC Mike Houston who CJH has good relationship with through competing in AAC conference & getting to know each other at FCA conference in 2018. As he researched, spoke with others, and interviewed Da'Rail the choice became clear

To be fair, Cinci, Louisville and James Madison won't get a lot of attention from 4 and 5 star players. Got connections in the Carolina's and Georgia I think so if he's a fit for Heupel, I'm good with it.

as to recruiting.. he actually recruited well at Louisville he was the reason they were in position to land 5 star RB Rueben Owens... but when Coach Sims left UL to go to Cincy, that's when Rueben Flipped back to Texas A&M... he was quoted saying that coach sims leaving was one of the main reasons he flipped.

He’s developed top RB rooms everywhere he’s been. His talent development is great. His RB’s block exceptionally well. He’ll have to grow as a recruiter, but he has a lot more to sell than he ever has before.
