Do you feel like with this speed and with an actual special teams coach in Gran that we might actually return a punt or kickoff to the house this year? I cant remember the last time I seen someone do that for us? Its always someone returning it against us ie. Desean Jackson or Brandon James

As a 5th year student, I've still yet to see UT return a kick (or punt) for any points. That's 50 games...Ouch.

Warren and Nuke will be co-starters in a 3 wide set, which I think we will play a lot. Big surprise is Janzen Jackson. I thought that Wagner was battling Rogan pretty good. Maybe JJ is first in when they go dime or nickel. Pretty cool for Anderson. He is a good, local guy and hard worker.

I expect to see better tackling and less bad angles being taken that's for sure. Fulmer never placed enough emphasis on special teams and it cost us some games for sure. I don't see this staff taking that phase of the game lightly. Neylands maxim # 6 "Press the kicking game. Here is where the breaks are made.

There's a reason Kiffin hasn't released this. For one, things change, day to day. For two, even though it's nice to know from a fan's perspective, think about what it does for teams that are going to play us. I mean, I know everyone will know what's up, kinda, after WKU but d#mn Rucker, shut the hell up! Kiffin already said something about not appreciating the fact that ppl were texting and emailing plays and positions and that's why he hasn't opened up practice so much. I think wes is a punk, needs to let the coaches release the info be release when they are ready. Vol fans be d#mned. Go Vols!!! 1 more week til our run at the National Championship Baby!! woo woo!

It has been alot longer than that though. Does anyone here have a clue of when the last one was? I think I remember Dale Carter returning one

how is Sullins going to start over Mcneil, a all sec center and Kiper has him as a top 5 center, weird.

I know Terry Fair probably did. Leonard Scott may have once. Can we get someone to check into this. Over the last 10 years, how has TN fared against the rest of D1 in terms of returns for TD. Someone knows.

Man Warren must be in the dog house.

He will have to play no matter what because of lack of depth right now. With that said I can see him being in the doghouse because this staff doesn't seem to be the coddling type like the last regime.

I've said it multiple times... BW needs to suck it up, man up and play ball.

Brett Smith returned a KO for a td just a few years ago, but that wasn't really the deep man taking it all the way, it was a "good hands" upback snagging a botched onside kick and blowing threw them.

I thought McNeill DID have knee surgery this week (Wed.) and there might be more of that coming in a bad scenario, and that he would be out at least 3-4 wks in a best scenario. Or did I just dream this?

Yes. I thought he had it scoped... not sure myself.

by the way, I stand corrected, or I'll correct myself... I just saw the depth chart had been released on utsports.com

Mark Jones returned a punt back against Vanderbilt in 2003. That is the last KO or punt I remember us taking back, except for Bret Smith on the onside kick.

Hopefully all of these freshmen getting starting spots will cause some of the recruits that haven't got us high on their list to take a second look or two...

The most back-breaking return I ever saw us inflict on someone was back in the mid/late-80s when Vols played at LSU. Tigers had scored just before half-time to give momentum to the home team ... and Carl Pickens took the ensuing KO all the way to stun the crowd and totally take the wind out of their sails. That's what we need again.
