Honest question. When was the last time a star player at UT got injured returning kicks or punts. Last time I checked Rogers and Lane were our return men.

When was the last time ANYONE got hurt fielding punts for ANY SCHOOL?

IMO you're more likely to get a receiver hurt going across the middle than returning a kick. You can't stop sending them across the middle so why stop them from returning punts? If we don't have the depth to run a balanced offense or a defense that can repeatedly shut teams down then by all means we need to be emphasizing special teams to get those breaks you need to win close games. A couple field goals and a special teams TD and we beat Florida.

Considering how this area of the game was so costly to us last season, perhaps this philosophy should be reconsidered.

I'm hard headed, and don't like to see it, but I agree with you. Besides, Da'Rick does it on kickoffs, and has yet to get hurt.

Probably didn't want our number one wideout getting hurt fielding a punt.

Thats true but Willie Gault sure did pull it off for the vols and the bears

Same reason Da'rick Rodgers is not fielding punts or maybe he still is. Dooley has to recruit better in order to put his best players on the field in every given situation. I'm sure he is trying to accomplish this. I see this team another year away on either getting better or going south. Just want to see them turn the corner, was hoping that would occur this year.

I agree that we should play our best players on special teams, but if Hunter had gotten hurt fielding a punt, this board would have been in meltdown as people started questioning why he was out there.

I believe Moore will have a better NFL career than Randal Cobb

I believe you are right.

agreed. cobb won't get as much looks his way in the passing game with the luxury of talent rodgers has around him. he's already a pretty darn good kr/pr though. kid's gonna be a stud on the team regardless. moore deff has potential. all that worries me is his qb. cambell isnt exactly that great. gbo.

Just makes me feel more awesome that I had a couple beers with him (and G. Jones) after the Lakers won the NBA championship in 2010 lol. (they lived across the street from me)

Haha I high-fived him after UT beat UK last year in Neyland. I was on the first row for that game. Got his picture as he was walking over too.

Me and my Bama buddy have a bet going on between Julio and DMo. I told him DMo was going to out produce Julio this year. So far I'm right. My boy DMo is doing what I thought he would do.

First off, I drafted DMo in both of my leagues. I also drafted Foster last year. Meachem the year before. Have Meachem again this year. I've found that giving love to VOLS in the NFL has done nothing but reward me in fantasy.

Second, they broadcast the Jets and Raiders outside of their home markets. That's right, I seen it.

Finally, he was listed third on the depth chart for both punt and kickoff return going into this week. Jacoby Ford was out (don't know about Nick Miller), and along with proving himself last week, I'm sure that moved him up. I won't be surprised if he remains there. DeSean Jackson is arguably the best receiver for the Eagles and he's a return guy so it's not out of the norm by any means in the NFL.

Shall I trade Desean Jackson for him? He is really stinking it up, and Vick keeps getting hurt.

We all seem to be missing the point that we just needed someone to CATCH a punt last year before we even thought about returning it. DMo could have easily done that, and I don't remember anyone getting hurt calling a fair catch

DeShawn Jackson, Patrick Peterson (defense), Darren Sproles, Devin Hester...

Those 2 are definitely reaching.

Sproles is a situational guy that has taken advantage of the fact that NO has 1/2 of their WRs injured. He's still #3 at RB.

Hester was drafted as a return specialist. He's important because of his return abilities. He's average, at best, as a receiver.

I haven't heard to much about Moore aka " The Truth " since he left UT to the NFL, but when I turned on to the Monday Night football they were showing the weekend highlights of the Raiders. Seems he is starting to make a name for himself in the NFL too. Way to go man as usual Vol players are making UT fans proud on Sunday.
