So OP wants to fire/demote our DC and hire a guy who gave up 63 last week and is a nut case... Bold strategy Cotton

A guy who is also credited with building a Georgia defense that dominated in the early oart of Richt's tenure. Dude is a whacko no diubt but he also has a proven record at the collegiate and NFL levels.

I haven't a different view on sunseri. Young kids can't learn a defense in a year and successfully run it. I believe that it takes atleast two years. Just my opinion.

These old school guys arent having success these days. You have to be able to stop a spread offense in you want to be successful in college football and the older guys (especially NFL DC's) struggle to do that. The East is filled with spread type offenses (Florida, SC, UGA, Missouri). If we want to compete we have to find a guy capable of stopping not only a traditional offense but a spread attack as well.

That being said, I dont think that hire would be enough of an upgrade for the amount of crazy you would get.

Maybe Sal needs to go back to LB coaching and Steele could help him in managing play calling since hes obviously clueless. Not a fan of Sal but our defense has shown flashes of being good but still not consistent. I believe its been stated already though and this is a fact our Secondary couldn't cover an old lady with a walker missing three tennis balls...:focus:

He knows what he's doing... but he can't seem to get through how to EXECUTE the techniques to the players.

so if you demote Sal and bring in another DC , who will you fire ? One of the DB coaches ?

If Dooley wins out (including bowl game) and somehiw manages to stick around, what would VN think about possibly demoting Sunseri and picking up a soon-to-be available bona fide DC like, say, Van Gorder from Auburn? No way does Chizik survive this season... Even if not Van Gorder there will certainly be some good position (and coordinator) coaches available. UT's offense is good enough to play in the SEC but we gotta fix the D (spare me the captain obvious jokes here...) in order to win these games that haven't gone our way...
Can't demote someone making that much money to be a position coach. If they are gonna stick with Dooley, let him recruit guys capable of playing the 3-4, or fire him and buy him out.

I dont think anyone should be fired just yet, I read on Volquest that Dooley is going to allow Josh Conklin more DC duties, supposedly he was the DC @theCitadel last two seasons. Now, I know that will spark more debates because there not SEC caliber, but its more experience that CSS has had in a decade calling real plays. So, lets see how much we can beat Troy by on Saturday and judge it Sunday

Doesn't Sunseri have a guaranteed buyout? Might as well have him work for his pay, as opposed to rewarding him for producing almost the worst D stats in college football. Keep him, demote him and have him carry bags and fetch water. Though his contract probably prevents a demotion.
