Second, I suppose that as a liberal you want to take someones word that a problem exists and then want someone else to fix it for you.

I came to this thread because I was hoping that someone may have provided a reasonable explanation for why the dems don't want to drill. No one seems to be able to do that and I don't know why. What is a clear cut reason, not side-stepping the question and throwing out diversion statements?

2. Using stereotypes is silly and makes you look bad. Here is one for you! SO KEN you cant wait to go to war even if it is not justified. YOU are only going to war to take oil wells and you are willing to risk American lives to do so. You are OK lying to the whole country so you can achieve you $ based objective and you only give a damn about the RICH!!!!! So KEN does that define you?

Speculation on why some Dems are against it:

1. Want high oil prices to force market away from oil.

2. In conjuction with #1, put environmental/global warming concerns over current economic condition.

3. Link oil to Republicans so see way to get at Republicans.

4. Have more of a socialistic as opposed to capitalistic world view.

there's no mystery here. The environmental lobby has held them hostage for decades and are the only reason that drilling in the ANWR (Sadat) is unpalatable for them.

The green loonies have gone so far as to make much of the press buy that drilling there would kill jillions of polar bears. Must be nice to have total (or nearly total) complicity from the press.
