I will say as a teacher that doesn't participate in unions or drink coffee, that I do expect parents to have some buy in into their kids. It isn't like I come out of pocket almost every day to help out a kid who's parent isn't sufficiently supporting them with silly little things like jackets for the winter. Bash teachers if you like. I have 20 years experience in electronics and decided to teach. It's good to know that there are people out there that believe it is the teachers responsibility to raise kids and not the parents. /rant off
