Deficit up 17%

I’m liking that the individuals trying to highlight and pin the deficit solely on Trump and republicans and acting like they even care about it are the same ones wanting government run healthcare.

Really? Since when has either party shown any fiscal responsibility?
Carter is the last one I can think of.......of course the public thought he was horrible so they traded him in for Reagan who started this whole deficit spending lunacy. Reagan's legacy will be as the Founding Father of the budget deficit. Clinton was pretty responsible.

Who's trying to pin it on Trump? He's only making it much worse, which surly everyone knew would be the case.

Again, you need to troll better.
You claimed there are people trying to pin the deficit solely on Trump....your words
I asked who.....my words
You said I'm trolling....your words
You have no answer because what you said is 100% wrong, so you claim trolling.....my words

Your words. I also see you left off republicans, which was also mentioned. Also, no word about your support for the program that will destroy this country.

Troll, troll, troll.

I guess you noticed the question mark after the first part of my quote...."Who's trying to pin it on Trump?"
You made the claim, I asked who, you resort to the troll defense.
That's fine. I'm just pointing it out.

I'm all on board with counting and highlighting the fact that the rate of increase is ALWAYS higher under republican administrations.
Republicans are more into robbing the grand kids to placate the richest. Sound strategy.

Like I said, you’ll need to troll better.

Me or the Republican strategy? I guess it could be both but it is most definitely the latter.
The only formula in DC which showed a modicum of fiscal responsibility is a philandering Democrat President with a Republican majority Congress.

To pretend Democrats have any virtue whatsoever related to restrained spending is disingenuous.

So no one has tried to pin the deficit solely on Trump? Or solely on Trump and the republicans? (even though that was your claim)
I said the rate of increase is always higher under republican administrations. That's a fact and in no way is trying to pin the deficit solely on republicans.
I was correct in what I said. You were incorrect in your claim.
That equals me trolling. Got it.

Democrats really have no virtue in restrained spending (only a tad bit of virtue in fiscal responsibility when compared to republicans)
I only dwell on the point to counter balance the decades of propaganda that led many to believe that the republican party was the more fiscally responsible and that the democratic party was nothing more than tax and spend and big deficits. There are still posters on this board that buy into that crap and have been for 40 years.

You are outstandingly ineffectual at balancing propaganda and enlightening others.

But now that we have more common ground about the topic, what is the best course to solve the problem?

Try harder.

Yea, I probably am, but I just have to keep trying.

Make across the board cuts, 10% military and 5% everything else.
Rewrite the tax code to better balance the burden.
Increase availability and use of birth control.
Pass a law that requires the rate of deficit spending be reduced every year by at least 10% until it reaches zero, then to reduce the deficit by 2% per year for 5 years, then reduce the deficit by at least 3% per year over the next five years, at least 4% per year over the next 5 years, and finally at least 5% per year until the deficit is erased.

Or something like that.....lots of room for negotiation and compromise.

When you apply the numbers related to your percentages, how many years will it take to zero out 22 Trillion (assuming we implemented the Luther plan in 2020)?

No idea. 40? I just think it's critical that we at least turn and start moving in the correct direction. Until then, it's all rather asinine to even discuss.

Be interesting to see the time involved. Can you do some 'ciphering in your spare time today?

74% increase in debt under obama....

Sure. Rough estimates here.
Currently 100% rate of increase (?). 10 years to end deficit spending.
then:
2% reduction in deficit each year for 5 years. (10%)
3% reduction each year for 5 years. (15%) 25% cumulative
4% reduction each year for 5 years. (20%) 45% cumulative
5% reduction each year for 11 years. (55%) 100% cumulative
36 years. Obviously the percentages would be based on fixed number at time the law was passed.
If that's not doable, half the percentages and take 72 years. Or third them and take 108 years.
The obvious key is to continually move in the correct direction.

Is your reworking of tax code factored in?
