Defensive starters

Might as well start the guessing game:

DE: Matthew Butler
NT: Emmitt Gooden
DE: Savion Williams
OLB: Darrell Taylor
ILB: Daniel Bituli
ILB: Darrin Kirkland
OLB: Deandre Johnson
CB: Alontae Taylor
CB: Bryce Thompson
S: Nigel Warrior
S: Trevon Flowers

One thing I see that they could possibly do different is this.

OLB: Taylor
ILB: Kirkland
ILB: Ignont
OLB: Bituli

Maybe Middleton over Butler and Crouch May be able to take time from Johnson at OLB.

Pruitt will find another DLine player from somewhere that can play next season. Just a gut feel.

Agree. I think he'll have to play the grad transfer market. Maybe he knows a good one from Bama, like he got Kennedy last year.

Really sucks we couldn't flip Justin Ebo.

Solomon
Allen plays a different position.

Butler played fine. Still needed more size and strength. Soloman if available could take that spot.

Put i think he is pretty much spot on...almost.

Thought it has been said Solomon will have to sit out next year

Good to see a lot of positive thoughts guys.....
There's going to be a lot of new talent wearing orange the next new football season.
Speed at linebacker will improve the defensive unit a ton....

For all the JJ Petersen excitement last year it’s very interesting how most are now skeptical. The kid is a great athlete. He will start.

If the stars align properly, there might be one or two names starting that are not yet on the roaster.

Think some are just concerned he could barely handle hs academics, came in out of shape, etc. Definitely not going to be any easier in college. A lot more to juggle, needs to up that work.

I've not done my homework. I thought Crouch was recruited as a RB? Although, he did look good on d, in his video. Kirkland is not getting involved, and has trouble getting off of blocks. Bituli is very active, but gets fooled, alot. The DB's are small. That is a worry. Big receivers in the SEC. The d-line, looks stout, on paper, and shouldn't get pushed around. We seem to be deep at LB. We do need an experienced signal caller. Kirkland? Bituli? Thoughts?

Crouch will start somewhere, he is the best athelete in that side of the ball, maybe the field.

I have a hunch that the Taylor-Thompson pairing is going to become our Dynamic Duo! Can't wait to see them with some more training and development.

I seriously doubt Middleton will be starting, this was the first year he has actually played in a couple and CJP actually said he looked rusty, I believe he will be 2nd string this next season.

Dline is by far the worst part of our d on paper.

Other coaches I know around Knoxville rave about how well Middleton moves for his size. They think he plays early

Do we play a true 3-4 scheme, or a 3-3-5? If its a true 3-4, this looks correct, and would be stouter against the run. But, your going to wind up having miss matches in coverage. LB/DE covering backs or TE's.

Some on here are familiar with the kid's story.
It's utterly amazing he's actually making it to The Hill...
And I'm rooting for him personally to finish and really make something of himself.

He's come a very long way. With that said...he has a long way to go.

Even though he's an older guy, he needs to become addicted to lifting this off-season. Like his life depends on it.
If he does that, then he could be a factor this year. But imo...he's 3rd string right now
