A lot has been made of the defensive effort and holding UF to under 250 yards/Tebow under 100 passing. Having watched the game and reviewed the stats, the real explanation for the "lack of offensive output" was simply a lack of need for many yards.
First half: UF 3 real possessions, two of which started on our side of the field. Results: TD, FG, FG. The only time they needed a long drive, they got it. Toss in a punt return TD = 20 points.
Second half: we start with a 3-and-out, punt them deep and actually stop the UF offensive for the only time of the game (aside from a meaningless 4th quarter possession), only to go 3-and-out again, punt, and give up another TD drive that started on our own end of the field.
In summary, UF drives (including punt return):
TD
FG
TD
FG
(half)
Punt
TD
FG
Downs
(end)
Point is: don't be too quick to give the defense credit. There is simply no horn to toot on this Tennessee team.
