He has Miller listed as starting at DE and Walls as back up DT to Jackson. I thought Walls was being moved back to DE and Miller was moving to DT.

Your blog is wrong on Miller being the starting DE, and Walls being a backup DT. Walls has lost weight, and the coaches want him only at DE. Miller is primarily a DT, he is 270 plans on being 280+ by opening game and will see time in spot situations at DE>

Nice talent on the projected starting defensive front, but after that (as we all know) not much, if any depth. Don't be surprised to see another offensive lineman to make the move over to the defensive side of the football. JMO

If we were just basing it on the starting 4, it would be a solid B to B+. But that depth is just bad.

Right now (and this is the just updated utsports.com) Miller is 265 and Walls is 280.

Do I think by next season that could happen? Yes.

But I'd be surprised if Miller isn't starting, or playing more than Walls at least.

Miller won't be staring over Malik Jackson at DT, which is the position he is playing now. Walls or Bohannon will be the other starting end.

After 1 week of spring practice it was announced that Walls had been moved to DE and Miller to DT...it was said that they both could move inside/outside on certain situations but as of now Miller is a full time DT and Walls is a full time DE...

And those weights listed on UT Sports aren't recent...all that update did was remove the players that have left since spring practice...I have read that Walls is already down to 265 and Miller is just over 270 and working on getting to 275+ by the start of practice

Jackson is entrenched at the tackle position.

Why would they move Miller to tackle and Walls to end?

They may feel Miller can hold the weight easier and maintain agility better than Walls who they feel will be more productive at a lighter weight.

They did move them during spring practice and summer reports seem to indicate it sticking.

With lack of depth at lb. will curt maggitt wind up at lb?

According to Hubbs...he will start off at LB...whether he stays there his whole career is another question...

Wherever he ends up I have complete faith he will be awesome

I was surprised by the move too but I can assure you it did indeed happen...Walls played DE and Miller played DT the entire 2nd half of spring practice including the O&W game...and there's no indication that the staff is second guessing it so as of now you can count on it staying that way

This isn't meant to be a jackass, but you probably should know the accuracy of positions before you post a blog that some people put stock in. This is old news about the position changes. I don't know about the accuracy of the numbers on utsports.com, but the last update on Walls was that he was 270 and still losing weight. Miller is 270 and says he expects to be at least 280 by opening game.

I knew they talked about it in Spring, and they had switch. However, in my personal opinion, I thought the move was temporary and that it wasn't going to be permanent.

Walls: Says 281 Player Bio: Marlon Walls University of Tennessee Athletics

Miller: Say 265 Player Bio: Corey Miller University of Tennessee Athletics

I hadn't seen anything concrete about the move, and I checked on govolsxtra.com/volquest to see if anything had happened since Spring that made the move permanent.

It was my mistake however.

One thing I don't like about Volquest is you cant go back far enough to find stuff. However, Hubbs a couple of weeks ago spoke to both Marlon and Cory (or it might've been coaches), and they said Marlon at latest check was 270 and was planning to lose more. Miller was 270 and said he expected to be at least 280 by Spring. Hubbs said Miller was going to be primarily but would situationally play at DE (I would think 3-4 situations).
