Three to four defensive ends is definitely within the realm of possibility. I'm not entirely clear on the defensive ends we have a shot with.

Opinions? Thoughts?

This is a tricky position to analyze because we have many defensive ends who have converted to defensive tackles. What do you think about some of them (Corey Miller perhaps) converting back to end?

I'd like to see Miller back on the end.

Hamilton is a 5 star and has his pick of colleges. He likes us, but he likes others as well. Jenkins has us in his top 5 but I doubt he gets away from the state of GA. Jenkins released a top 4 recently it was UT, Auburn, Bama and UF. Still doubt he leaves the state though.

One JUCO and another quality prospect. I think 2 is the magic number at this position.

Just two? That seems a little low. We don't have a whole lot of DEs on campus right now. Smith, Walls, Bohannon, Williams, and Maggitt. Did I miss anyone? Unless you're planning on Miller moving back to end, it seems like we need at least three.

More possibles:

Aiken
Bullard
President
Lewis (Latroy)
Azubike

We should take at least three.

That would be my plan. 2 is the minimum number. To me LB and DT are more glaring weaknesses. You take more ends if they are the right players. Also, Miller back to end and his natural position. JMO though.

See, I was under the impression that Miller had moved because he was having trouble keeping his weight down, not because we were running out of bodies at tackle. If it were just bodies, it wouldn't make sense to be moving Walls back to end.

If Miller is a DT, I think you can really argue that DE is more pressing, or at least equally pressing. If Miller is a DE, I think DE is #3 on the pecking order, as you said.

JMO, but I didn't think Miller was as effective inside as he could be on the edge. I think that he would have no trouble dropping the weight back off and going back to his natural position.

I really have no idea. But he needs to pick whichever one is easier, bulking up to good DT size or slimming down to good DE size, and sticking with it. Because right now, he's probably a little less effective in both spots. Unless we go to 3-4, in which case he's perfect.

Back at the D.J. Humphries thread I mentioned that along with him, I have us taking 3 more 5 star players, two of those Darius Hamilton, and Jonathan Bullard, the last on is Stefon Diggs.

You hit the nail on the head. He is at that "tweener" stage.

I keep hearing that we are going to run multiple looks on def. Could it be that the staff is trying to have ends for both a 3 man front and a 4 man front? Just a thought. What do you guys think?

You constantly hear the term "multiple." I think you will see everything from a 4-3 to a 3-3-5 at different times during this season. Throwing everything but the kitchen sink at people. I am excited to start seeing what Wilcox can do with more talent and time teaching his D to our guys.

3 man front? 4 man front? Psshh! We are going to line Mo Couch up in a 1 man front with 2 backers and 8 DBs and have at it. This would explain our lack of concern on the DL. No Worries folks CJW has a plan!
