When do we start telling DB's no? At our current point we have TK2, Payne, and Wharton committed. However we have legitimate mutual interest in: Gaulden, McDowell, Tabor, Berry Twins, Reavis, and Nick Glass. How many DB's is too many Volnation?

It depends on how many DB's it will take to replace Rod Wilks.

I have no idea. I'm just saying that the coaching, or lack thereof, had more to do with our defense being awful than 40 times.

You can't make chicken salad out of chicken ****. No matter who the coach was Teague and Waggner were going to be major weaknesses. It is never good when your fullback ran the same 40 time as guys trying to cover sec wrs. The coaching issue came in by giving our slow ass corners no safety help.

Wasn't it reported Brewer ran in the 4.3s and was layin wood like Ronnie Lott a couple springs ago?

I agree with those that say coaching was more a problem than speed. Not that we have burners all over the field, but how else do you explain Waggner goin from all SEC caliber to too slow over the course of a year?

Yes, and was still among the fastest on the team this past season. I remember there being a lot of optimism on VQ when it was first reported. After a couple of seasons of disappointment and the fact that it doesn't really translate on the field, his speed is forgotten.

I wasn't a fan of Waggner but a good coach could've played to his strengths.

Anyone heard how Jalen Reeves-Maybin has been doing this spring? And what position he has been practicing?

Justin Wilcox' chicken salad wasn't too bad with the same players.

You want corners & safeties with speed but a good, smart D coordinator can cover up a lack of speed to a certain point, while a bad DC will magnify it.

With that said, I thought Teague was a really good slot receiver his freshman year.

Combination of both.

Slow DBs + Really bad coaching = worst collegiate football defense in recent history

This is one if the best secondary classes we've had in years.

CB: Gaulden
CB: Payne
FS: Todd Kelly Jr.
SS: McDowell

Combo DB: Evan Berry(FS/CB)

Maybe list: Tabor and DJ Smith, can you say I'm happy as can be.

Did I miss Gaulden and McDowell committing?

BB I know it would take a miracle but if all 5 of those guys plus Smith and Tabor want to commit, we don't turn down any of the do we? Imo there is no way we would. Again, highly unlikely

You start cutting the weight if that happens. Upperclassmen not producing get trimmed like fat.

Thought we were discussing DBs here. Everyone knows the less time you cover the better. That concept has always worked. And will always work. But a pass rush couldn't have covered up for players like Teague.
