When do we start telling DB's no? At our current point we have TK2, Payne, and Wharton committed. However we have legitimate mutual interest in: Gaulden, McDowell, Tabor, Berry Twins, Reavis, and Nick Glass. How many DB's is too many Volnation?

Don't stop taking DB's until we get at least 6.

Wharton is not a DB. If all those guys wanted to commit we wont tell them no. And Reavis would probably grow into an OLB if we did magically pull all of them. Plus Truitt can play both ways. Doubt we get Nick Glass. Tabor would be a bit easier to pull but still a long shot.

so you think we would take all 10 if they wanted to commit? no way

We wont get them all anyways. Our db class right now imo will look like this:

Kelly
McDowell
Payne
Gaulden
Evan Berry
D.J. Smith

Truitt will be an ath

Elliott Berry will be a WLB

Everyone else you listed will go elsewhere

we were third to last in defense last year and our inability to be disciplined in the secondary cost us 4 games in my opinion. no amount of dbs this year is too many.

Speed, Speed and more Speed

I think the guys we have are fast. The problem is when you get terrible coaching and you're out of position half the time, you look slow in games.

Teague and Brewer were two of the slowest people we have started in the secondary since the 80's. We are improved on speed but still have a ways to go

Brewer was playing out of position, and Teague is not that slow. He just had terrible technique. Not saying he's a 4.3 guy, just not molasses.

I disagree... On straight go routes our back simply lacked straight line speed

Teague was so out of his league at CB. How the coaches could not see that is beyond me. Would have made a good slot. Not only was he slow with no recovery speed, he was not physical and he could not pivot at his hips - all things secondary coaches are supposed to look for when they use a guy at that position.

Wasn't it reported Brewer ran in the 4.3s and was layin wood like Ronnie Lott a couple springs ago?

I agree with those that say coaching was more a problem than speed. Not that we have burners all over the field, but how else do you explain Waggner goin from all SEC caliber to too slow over the course of a year?

Correct me if i'm wrong but didn't Waggner run a 4.69 40 at his pro day?

When the DBs on the current roster are running 4.7s there is no such thing as too many.
