Defense Wasn't Horrible

Defense played pretty well especially without JRM and the complexities of the appy st run game...

It's our offense that is going to hold this team back. Wtf was with the o line?

They weren't bad, just s couple plays. No JRM either.

Our offense sucked miserably today. That doesn't help the D at all.

Our defense was constantly off guard with misdirection. Did we even sack Lamb? What happened to "everybody has a plan until they get punched in the mouth"?

have no idea...same ones other than Kerbyson from last year...but they got whipped

Defense was adequate at best. We look somewhat soft on the defensive front against the run though. I expected us to be much better on the d-line. Against good SEC teams, we will have to be drastically better on D as well as every other phase of the game.

I liked Appy's play calling, give us a lot of problems. I hoped our D line would have been in their backfield a lot more but they did play better than our offense.

Defense was fine. One TD was on a short field and the other they got caught in a bad coverage and perfect playcall.

Defense was good minus some runs. Have no idea why App st just didn't keep doing jet sweeps and options. Couldn't stop it.

Seriously, I am very Pro Shoop. But where was our exotic blitzes, our smash mouth, our pressure, our turnovers? Was K Mac, Kongo, K Phillips, Barnet even a factor tonite?

Our defense played fine. If someone told me App State would only score 13 I would have taken it. I just would have also assumed our offense would score above 13, which was very difficult.

There were a couple of plays especially one of their 3rd down conversions where our entire defensive front literally just got pushed off the edge of my tv screen, could not believe it. We have to get that cleaned up. 2nd half, our D finally came to play and kept us in the game, Lord knows our offense did not.

I think our defense was limited by the way App State runs their offense. They are a run first team so it was not your traditional approach to defense. Our biggest strength is pass rush and we didn't have that many opportunities to rush the passer. Although when we did, I thought we did a decent job for the most part. But they ran some very creative run plays. You could tell they really wanted this game.
