Now that we have CSS,

Especcially if we get Mcculores (sp?)

Think we will gradually switch to a 3-4?

If we land the big boy McCullers and Sentimore pans out, then I see 3 - 4 being likely. But more of the way UGA uses it than BAMA...

This will only happen if Santos and Peters are ahead of their years and ready for SEC ball. Also, I am not convinced that J Smith wouldn't be a great starting LB next year...

Dooley is doing some serious work... This weekend will be huge for recruiting. All should be right in VN come next week!

This question should be asked today at the presser. Hopefully DD will share with us what SS plans to implement.

Whatever the plan is will be discussed with recruits this weekend so we should know soon if not today.

We have the LB's. We have big DE's too.

Just need McCullers and another big boy to come down and get us some NT's.

Alan Carson just got excited.

Does SS have experience with 4-3 defense? - I know DD has stated before he likes his defense to be a base "4-3" with multiple sets. I don't see us trying to go to a 3-4 with whats at stake for Dooley next year - just don't have time

Looks like we are moving to a 3-4 base D.

Vols_Beat I'm told Sal Sunseri will be bringing a 3-4 scheme with him for Vols to install.

It took UGA 2 years to install their 3-4 and they struggled with it bad the first year.

Don't have the talent to run an effective full-time 3-4. If we get McCullers, which seems probable, we may use it occasionally.

It appears we now have the personnel for it - McCullers just committed per Austin Price.

He's a NT all the way.

All the twitter feeds are confirming that we are moving to a base 3-4, and that we just landed a big DL recruit.

Since we'll be moving away from the 4-2-5 that we overused last year, I don't know why he wouldn't go ahead and start implementing whatever he really wants. But, yeah, common "wisdom" seems to be that you can't implement a 3-4 from scratch in one season. We won't know what Sunseri thinks about that til practice starts.

My first prediction is: no matter what we run next year, Maggitt gets at least 6 sacks.

While McCullers is a great pickup for the NT, UT's size along the line isn't going to lend itself to the 3-4 this coming year. You have to essentially have 3 DTs along the line (and the depth needed to give them a breather), and your OLBs have to be DEs who can stand up and play coverage.

It isn't an easy transition.
