Defense Saved Us

Maurer isn’t done for the year. You can relax on that. If he doesn’t see the field again it’s Pruitts decision.

I dont see Pruitt playing maurer again barring injury or game out if hand, but huge mistake not to

Be happy. It's a GOOD thing that the offense can be flat, and we still win by 23. (Basically 30)
Hmm... offense flat, isn't that our MO? Do you think a flat offense can beat Mizzou? We won by 23 because it is UAB.

Like it or not Pruitt needs to realize that Maurer possibly saved his job with the way things were going. I noticed right away last night the lack of energy the team played with in comparison to previous weeks. Despite the win they looked lackluster and “going through the motions”.

I love this bipolar fan base. Last week Pruitt is the man and this week, even though we win easily, he is an idiot.
My 2 cents. In Pruitt’s eyes Maurer is the possible future and Pruitt did not want to play him unless absolutely needed. Pruitt did not want another loss to a lowly ranked team after the Georgia St. debacle and he feels JG is the safe, conservative option compared to Shrout who may throw great passes or he may throw a couple critical interceptions in the first quarter.

Wrong. HARRISON is the future.

I mean for Gods sake people we won by 23 points! People are acting like we freaking lost!
And it doesn’t take a genius to see the issues that would cost this team against the final three foes.
How many drives ended in field goal attempts? 4. And that was with an average starting position in the good side of the 50 yard line.

I’ll side with coach Pruitt who expressed the same thing. Great defense. Offense was disappointing.

He moves the chains and can make dynamic plays. Yes, that comes with some mistakes, but I think most of us can live with those as long as we are being aggressive.
Yeah we can live with that but the coaches can't.

The defense better save us because I'm fully convinced that JG will start this week because there will not be enough Vol fans there to hear the booing.

Thankfully, the defense has been looking very strong lately and they may be the difference in these last 3 games to get bowl eligible.

The UAB QB handed the game to us on a silver platter. If UAB had a QB of the caliber, or even close to the caliber, of Troy a few years back (remember the 600 yards he threw against us) then we would have gotten beat. I do not think that even that Troy QB could throw for 600 yards against this defense but he would throw for 300, 250 at least. The UAB guy was a DB's dream come true. He threw the ball directly at them. It was like he was color blind and actually thought that was one of his receivers. Other than that, how many times did the QB fumble? Thankfully for us, UAB never replaced him, that is, until late in the game when he got hurt. Hard to tell how good the replacement was cause we had a 2nd string defense in by then.

Your crazy, we could play UAB another 10 times and whip them everytime. We dominated the game. I could give a lot of if's right back at you. Bottom line is Tennessee whipped UAB from start to finish. They were lucky to score. GBO!

First INT, Bryce jumped the route.

2nd INT Crouch pressured the QB and caused a bad throw.

3rd INT, Henry T deflects the pass.

Team game.

I think most is happy that we won. The concern is that Pruitt will play JG the next three games and cost us a bowl game.

Coach doesn't owe anyone an explanation on who he does or doesn't play he knows what's going on inside of his program and will do what's best for the team and what he believes will get the w

It is not just defense. Our special teams are amazing (we have the best field goal and punt returner in the conference), our online is vastly improved and I would put our WR’s up against anyone. Our only issue is quarterback. It is comforting to know JG practices well. (Yes, that last line should be blue).

All the people saying who cares we won won’t be saying that if the same o shows up for the remaining games and don’t make it to bowl game again.

No, its fact that when we turn the ball over its always the opponent that forced the turnover. If the opponent turns the ball over, its because they handed it to us on a silver platter.
