He is going to ruin a potentially great qb in shrout. He will start waiting till they are wide open like jg does before he throws. Cause he knows if he throws int he will get pulled.all good qb throw into tight windows.and many throw across their bodies.
Pruitt just looks for a reason. Any reason and then broadcast it to the fans. Wonder how much heat the felt when the media began to say he was "in the hot seat"
I was all in last week when JT started but then he pulled him. Then he pulled this stunt again this week and I just think it is so demeaning I don't know what to say. Pull JT after the first series so you can make JG the hero while the announcers trash JT. Pruitt is way wrong and can't seem to think past his nose or something.
Like the remark he made he might play all three. This guy is just pulling our chain. Except he isn't pulling mine anymore. Tonight was hogwash. HOGWASH

It looks that way. Pruitt acting and talking very strange on qb
Maurer isn’t done for the year. You can relax on that. If he doesn’t see the field again it’s Pruitts decision.

Tennessee’s D was great

However as bad as UAB’s O was, I’m not sure Tennessee needed “saving” by the D.

I'm really, really, really trying to not look into this too much. I'm happy for the win, defense dominated. I'm just very confused about the decisions on offense tonight, specifically QB. I wasn't expecting what we seen at all. The persistent run plays that got no-where, to JG getting majority of snaps with a broken hand. I know we had a couple o-linemen missing due to injuries, but what gives? Someone please enlighten me. I really hope Pruitt gives an explanation on the vanilla play-calling and what's going on with Maurer. He was cleared this week, but didn't see the field, and Shrout hardly did either 🤔

They don't seem to trust Shrout's management of the O. Maurer it seems was held out.

Sadly, I think Pruitt drew encouragement from USCe. I hope watching the film of this game he recognizes the same JG that played against GSU... with just a better team around him. What JG did tonight won't win vs UK or Mizzou.

On another subject.

Is anyone else concerned about Wanya blocking? He tried to put JG out himself by playing his Ole defense. This is a concern that he is weak in pass protection.

I love this bipolar fan base. Last week Pruitt is the man and this week, even though we win easily, he is an idiot.
My 2 cents. In Pruitt’s eyes Maurer is the possible future and Pruitt did not want to play him unless absolutely needed. Pruitt did not want another loss to a lowly ranked team after the Georgia St. debacle and he feels JG is the safe, conservative option compared to Shrout who may throw great passes or he may throw a couple critical interceptions in the first quarter.

This is my first comment of the season, but I have watched every game. I can't understand how the coach can make such a statement in his press comment. Strout would probably had not come out if he had not thrown the ball across his body. We had just watched Jennings run down field open for about 18 yards before JG finally lobbed the ball over to him after the safety had arrived. We had just watched JG throw the interception in the red zone. When there is an injury to QB the backup is expected to come in and run the offense. We all saw with several minutes left in the game Strout was inserted and was instructed to hand the ball off three times, and then we punted. A couple of first downs and we would have had a shutout. I know the coaching staff and most of the people on this website know more than me, but I have watched every game and I can not see that JG is our best option He is slow to react, still stars down receivers, holds the ball to long, and panics in the red zone. I am certainly for the one that gives us the best chance to win, but in my opinion, neither of the two hat played tonight gives us the best chance.. I hope we edge closer to that Bowl game next week in Lexington, get those players healthy and play the kind of Volunteer Football that I remember and Love.
Upload an avi pic. That crimson 'A' is atrocious.

We got the WIN.

I'll always take a WIN.

I really don't care who we play as long as we keep getting WINS!!!

Relax people and enjoy the WIN.

Only 2 more WINS and we're finally back in a bowl game.

VFL...GBO!!!

I would like to know why fans are so high on Maurer? I stated this in another thread but Maurer has 5 interceptions in 4 games in which he never played the entire game, probably 2 and a half quarters each game. Yes he has shown some ability he also has turned the ball over a lot. Thoughts
Offense completley different in a good way. The energy is 100% improved. Better chance to win. Remember JG lost to Ga State and BYU..

The QB situation has become a bit of a roller-coaster... at least for me. One week it feels like we don't have any answers at the position except (maybe) Maurer. The next we think we have 3 serviceable starters... I was really impressed with Shrout against SC, but not last night. I'm wondering if he just got lucky against SC and his first read was usually the right one. I know I should stop questioning the coaching staff, but it's just hard to watch JG... especially with an injured hand.

1 of those int. is on JJ in Bama game and 1 int came after the topsy turvy flip that caused either neck/head injury. They left him in and he made the correct throw but was late on the throw like other QB's have been this year. In other words he should have not been in the game much less throwing a timing pattern.
He is a True Freshman, so there's that. JG & JT sat and RS their first year and this is JG's 4th year in college so it's hard to compare.
Also he's played in 5 games.

I"ll just ask this. Has Pruitt really learned his lesson from spring camp and summer workouts as well as fall camp ?
Is he still clueless ? You say no. Well here we are maybe down to just one QB ready and in his mind nobody even near JG in competition and yet tonight before we play Kentucky we play a team that we could get JT or BM experience in but no, no, can't do that. Has Pruitt learned any lessons at all. Is he just that hard headed ? Apparently or he just can't see the forest for the trees and that is not a good kind of coach.
Why in the h**l would you play BM last night & risk another injury? We had the game in hand from the first play. JS is no better than JG, so why wouldn't you put the more experienced guy in.... Plus if you have JS in & he gets injured where does that leave you? Then you'd have JS injured, JG with a broken hand & a QB in BM that's one headshot away from another concussion...You people need to enjoy the win & leave the coaches to do the coaching. He*l we beat them 30-7..
