I know that we are not going to sign 18 players on defense but I can dream cant I. We have 16 scholarships available right now with departure of Cameron Clear. What does everone else think about the list?

I think you should slot some spaces for those players who aren't interested now but will be interest after visits or other programs screwing up.

And I hope that we focus on getting more linebackers here.

OP - you can erase half those names, because once they get on VN and read all the negativity, they'll commit elsewhere.

Lawson is very much possible as a jack, he wont play DL here.

As of yesterday he is coming up for the junior linemen camp (to watch not participate)

And will come back with his parents in July.

I think the Db's you have listed are a strong possibility minus the alexander twins.

I don't know that we'll sign 18 defensive players, but Dooley is going to get as close to 25 as he can every year.

We are set up for a potentially great class. The Florida game is big (as usual). A win there and the kids will not tune our coaches out. A subsequent win over Georgia will then book it for us.

another name to watch out for is khambrel Garland a juco db from arizona. He was at hutchison community college when coach staley was there and staley has been in constant contact with him already and he also knows toby johnson, ben bradley, de'vondre camble and cordarrelle patterson. Don't be surprised to see ourcoffensive numbers be really low this year with the exception of oline. With Tn transitioning to a 3-4 system dooley and co. are going to get all the help on the defensive side of the ball they can get so I wouldnt be surprised to see 18 or 20 guys on defense this year

how can we see 18 or 20 players with only 16 scholly's ? we will have to sign at least 7 or 8 on offense.

I really hope we don't go after juco guys in the secondary. We really don't need them if we close with the guys we're in on.

This! We are in on too many elite DBs to settle for a JUCO guy. Also, we have to sign more than just some OL on offense. We need to sign at least 1 and probably 2 TEs now (and one maybe a JUCO TE). I am guessing that we are trying to sign 2 RBs (hopefully both are elite studs!), and we also need to sign probably 3-4 WRs (this depends on how good of a year our top 3 have and who leaves early). 2 TEs + 2 RBs + 3 WRs + 4 OL (minimum) = 11 offensive signees. So, the max number of defensive guys that we could sign is 14-17 (17 would include 3 EEs backcounted from last year's class). To sign 25-28 would mean that we would have to lose in some shape, form, or fashion 9-12 players (either attrition or leaving early for the draft). I don't see all of that happening.

Edit: Forgot about 1 QB. That makes 12 offensive signees most likely.

If I am doing my math right, with clear gone we are at 17. We will likely lose 1-4 to the NFL. At least Rogers, maybe Hunter and Bray, but let's say we are at 19 because of that. There will be 2-3 that leave because of playing time which will put us around 22. 1-2 more because of grades or some other offense and we are close to 25. Anyway, not too far fetched to see us sign 22-25 guys this time.

Will need at least 2 WRs, 2 TEs, 3 OL, 1 QB, 2 RBs on Offense. Which leaves 12-15 on D.

We need a good 4 OL. We didn't take any in this past class(dumb move). But we'll back count some of the EEs. I know Corey Vereen is an EE. So we'll see what happens. We may sign more than 25. Saban shaves players every year. Dooley will start to do it if he can win big.
