I truly believe we cannot fix this defense. TOO Soft and not coached.

Hey, I think our defense allowed SC to run up and down the field that they (South Carolina) tired out at the end!:)

Yeah they were tired it was like doing windsprints running through all those arm tackles.

I agree, no talent or too young talent and absolutely NO coaching! How much you want to bet the rest of our schedule completely abandons the run and passes every play.

Yeah we should just quit play football at Tennessee. Did you see we won !!!!!!!!!

Did you even watch the game?? We didn't win the game, USC lost it. Did you not see the defensive play during this game or last week's game?

WHY SHOULD THEY? WE ARE AVERAGING SOMETHING LIKE 8.2 YARDS A CARRY AGAINST US..BRUTAL...BUT LIKE SOME ARE SAYING I GUESS WE SHOULD BE HAPPY WE WON.. BUT DEEP DOWN I AM SICK AT MY STOMACH.. MAKES ME SICK TO SEE US PLAY DEFENSE

They played great in the 1st half. I think it can be "fixed", but it isn't going to be a very good defense at all. They don't have to be GOOD, just mediocre would be fine instead of just flat out atrocious.

Actually, if we play our cards right and use this week to start preparing for Arkansas (La-Laf is terrible) we should run the table untill the Kentucky game. Then we simply have to outscore them in a shootout.

As bad as it was, our D was still trying in the end, unlike the Bama and Florida disasters.

We did make some adjustments at halftime,we fell asleep or apart, which ever you prefer to call it. Chavis needs to totally start over again with this defense. Its called coaching. To many missed tackles, too much cushion on pass defense.

The defense is very suspect, but the point remains there are a couple of freshmen starting in the backfield due to injuries. Just saying.....

I don't care if they're HS freshmen, the cushions we're allowing on 3rd and 8 are ridiculous. It takes no effort for teams to keep the chains moving against us. People are running free all over the field....and they're open on passing plays as well.

We are very lucky that Mitchell remembered he sucked and overthrew the open receiver in the end zone during the OT.

when the game got tight and he had something to lose, he reverted to the play that got him benched. We needed it badly.

UCLA's defense in 2005 was probably on par with the one UT is fielding this season. They fired Larry Kerr and brought in DeWayne Walker. The D still had some weaknesses, but Walker masked them pretty well. They were a top 30 defense in 2006. Our defense is not permanently broken. There's someone out there that can correct it. Whoever it is doesn't reside in Knoxville.
