I have seen this play used consistently through the opening weekend. APP STATE executed this play on several occasions with good results. I would like to claim that we were not disciplined, but this does not seem to be accurate. Our front defense is very aggressive, which might be a problem with this type of play.

How is this play defended by OUR defense? I do not know the answer and would like some thoughts.

Another consideration is just how strange the App St offense is overall. Most of the game their motion and shifts effectively created a blend of the triple option and the wishbone that modern offenses really don't employ anymore. Their use of misdirection was impressive as was their timing of it. They did a great job executing it and we were not entirely ready for it. The effect reminded me of the Air Force offense that gave us so much trouble a decade ago.

It was confusing us at first but Shoop made adjustments and shut it down late in the second quarter.

Shoop was worth every penny

Play assignment football. Don't get sucked in/over pursue. As a previous poster said, if you're playing a team like this, have your DEs set the edge and stay at home.

Yup they were disciplined and executed the misdirection to perfection. Appy State played about as flawless of a game as you can, but we still found a way to win even though we looked sloppy and unprepared

Miami better bring their A Game to Boone or they will get whipped. This Appy State team is as good of a mid major team as you'll find.

Was thinking the exact same thing. Air Force gave us a lot of problems in that game.
