Defending Fulmer

Hobnail boot - definitely sucked
Jabar Gaffney - Dropped the ball - (No instant replay at the time)
Jamarcus Russell - Clearly fumbled at midfield, we recovered, play was ruled dead - (No instant replay a the time).

So Phil gets a pass when refs screw up, but Dooley doesn't. Great logic.

Do you think this assembled staff will know that more than 11 players on the field during play is a penalty? Will there be some one on the staff that can keep a weak-ass ACC team driving the length of the field in 2 minutes? I saw that, maybe you dont have any idea what you're looking at when you watch a football game.

Remember when Chavis had his DBs backed up deep on the final third and two Auburn needed to ice the game in. 2008? His postgame explanation was that he didn't want to give up a big play. Awesome.

Clawson was nutty for failing to recruit a QB that could play even a little.

Of all the things that happened to the football program, I've never understood how Fulmer let himself get into a position where Crompton happened.

Worst defensive call I've ever seen.

I dunno. Putting Antonio Gaines, in one of his first games, on DJ Hall for the most crucial down of the 05 Bama game was pretty awful, too.

That's poor, but he still had a chance. At AU, there was no chance of a god outcome.

Fulmer didn't win a championship in ten years.

That's it. Period. Tennessee is better than that.

And no, I don't take Fulmer's career. Two championships in 17 years isn't a good standard here, especially when he played in a weak SEC.

You guys are a waist of time and can't see anything beyond what might be outside the back door. That's what I heard.

Clawson took the offense to 115th, in the NCAA...
Fulmer hired him, he sucked, and it got him fired

Maybe Fulmer should have given him the keys to the offense as opposed to meddling. Clawson didn't get Fulmer fired. Becoming complacent, losing to teams with inferior talent and superior coaching, and an inability to adapt to change got Fulmer fired. He's gone, and it's his fault. Not Hamilton's, not Clawson's, but his, and his alone.

You must be fooled by our history cause Fulmer's career was above par for what we have accomplished before and since.

The "since" part really gives me a chuckle.

The national title was awesome. I was too young to enjoy it sadly, so maybe I don't understand exactly what that meant to Tennessee.

However, two SEC titles in 17 years doesn't cut it. At least for me. Especially with his talent.

Dickey won two in six years

Majors won three in sixteen years.

Obviously, Bill Battle sucked. Fulmer should have won (at minimum) four SEC titles.

fulmer should have taken over after the UCLA game...when we averaged 8 yards a carry in the first half, but Clawful wouldn't run it in the second half...

he was pathetic while at Tennessee....just check the record books...worst offense in decades

He was at UT a year, and he was handicapped by the fact that the head coach liked to meddle.

What was pathetic was what Fulmer did for UT post-98. No SEC Championships, and a steady decline that culminated with a lopsided loss to a mediocre SC squad, and a beautiful display of how not to play football against Wyoming.
