Defending Fulmer

Truth of the matter is it wasn't going to be a smooth transition to a new coach, it was 3 years late in the making. Anyone that came in here in 2009 was going to have a tough go of it, that means anyone. It was too far gone already. Kiffin made it worse by high tailing it back to the fruity coast. Why do we continue to rehash this? Some just can't let go of the 90's. The 2000's i'd rather forget, nothing in that decade worth talking about.
Yep, and CPF didn't help the transition with his negativity, snipey comments and airing of dirty laundry in public-- all toward a school he supposedly loves, and after he put us in the tank to begin with...

I agree he should have been fired but he did bring us a national championship for the first time in close to 50 years. I understand he left our program pretty bad off but come on guys.

Are you making the case for Miami not firing Larry Coker?

In 2008 I did not get a call from the UTAD telling me that the (2) seats beside my season tickets were available if I wanted them. That truly happened last week. Never thought I'd see the day. But.....We're so much better off without CPF.

You are aware of the current national economic problems and that the price of gas is double what it was in 2008?

CPF should have been fired after the 2005 season, almost everyone could see the on coming headlight in the tunnel then. Hammy and the powers that be just let the train run over us, then they backed it up to run over us again with the CLK hire.

For everyone that lays the WY loss on Hammy, you forget that earlier that year we came one great tackle away from losing to Air Force.

I'd rather have a coach like Dooley, where I can have some hope we can win a championship in the next couple years, over Fulmer, where I knew we would get 8-10 wins (not that impressive anymore), lose to Florida and Alabama substantially, be close to the SEC championship game or make it, and know we weren't going to win a title or make a BCS bowl game at all.

Based on :

Recruiting - umm....no
Wins - umm....no
Championships - umm....no
Bowl Wins - umm....no
National Prominance - umm....no
Attendance - umm....no

I guess if you're one of the people who used to have a hard time getting tickets - umm....yes.

Based on common sense. CPF became complacent. UT is struggling right now, but they are headed in the right direction.

Gas prices dont have a damn thing do with why our stadium is no longer full. Maybe being 13-13 over the last (2) seasons does. But......Oh we're so much better off.

It is a factor and if you dont believe that, then you would also believe that Fulmer had nothing to do with the decline of UT Football

Fulmer is the reason we are having to build the program from the ground up. His great talent and character evaluation of players did wonders for this team

He is the reason Bama fans outnumbered UT fans in Knoxville in 2008

He is the reason I quit going to Neyland after 2005, when I saw that he really only cared about riding out his career and trying to break Neylands all-time wins at UT.

Fulmer let his ego get bigger than UT Football.

Adding the minimum donation required to get those tickets and its $890 to $1300 a seat

I am not aware of Alabama having that minimum donation, but I could be wrong

Yes, you have to donate at Alabama to get season tickets.

link? I also believe bama is on a point system so that $80 probably isn't getting you into the stadium

You've got your years mixed up. Air Force was 2006. Wyoming was 2008.

Not saying you're wrong, but what is it about CDD that gives you that hope?

Rivals.com College Football - Great Lakes dominate in season-ticket prices

For example, an Alabama season ticket conceivably could be purchased for $455, which would include a minimum $80 contribution to the Tide Pride donor program. The key word is "conceivably."

The opportunity to purchase tickets at that price primarily is limited to those who already have season tickets in the end zones and are content to renew them with the same seat location.

A spokesman from Alabama's Developmental Office estimated a new customer may have to donate at least $5,000 to purchase season tickets this year; he also estimated the school's season-ticket waiting list at about 17,000.

so are you still saying UT is about 4x as expensive as bama?

In reality I would bring Bruce Pearl back before Fulmer. He might be a liar but he is no crybaby.

PJ, looks like I was wrong about the Alabama tickets. It does look like once you get them, the annual renewal is reasonable.

Is UTs renewal cost the same as if you are purchasing them for the same time?

They seem to be more for first time buyers, but that could be because of supply and demand

Looks like if UT was having problems selling season tickets, they would lower the price until demand went back up
