Chill out, kids. It's not so awful as all that.
I didn't cringe before every down when we had the ball. That's an improvement. I do wish we'd had a little better play calling, but I think EA's finger must have been more of a concern than we had previously believed, especially after he fell on it. They went back to their comfort zone after that, and it bit us. His finger will be better next week.
I think our biggest problem is conservatism. Several posters have mentioned the fact that our receivers don't get any YAC - it's b/c they don't have the huge pad that Chavis gives other teams' receivers so that they don't get behind us. Conservatism. Throwing a 10-yard pass on 3rd & 21? Conservatism.
I can't say that's the problem w/ special teams. Jesus, they just suck, but I thought our returns were MUCH improved over last year. No juking. They ran straight up, and it worked, to a point.
Now if we'd tackle and quit worrying about breaking a nail, I'd be happier. Did we REALLY expect to win the NC? I'd have taken it as our just desserts, had it happened (We're the Great State of Tennessee, after all), but I didn't expect it. Losing to Cal has no effect on our play in the SEC. I say work to improve and make the most of what we've got.
