This is really surprising to me. Great athlete, but he hasn't shown anything on offense or defense. I don't think the NFL drafts someone just based on their return ability.

That being said, I really hope he does well wherever he goes.

I actually believe that the staff is making room. They're not encouraging them to make a bad decision, but they're probably saying "transfer or go pro, but...we need your spot." We are super limited on space and there's bound to be more transfers available after spring practice....

I think that's why you're seeing some of these guys move on.

I don’t mean to be mean. But are some of these guys getting there draft grades from. This one I don’t understand at all.
“Onto bigger and better things” mentality. It’s the world we live in. Always looking for the next best thing. Unfortunately, this decision may hurt him. He had an opportunity to come back to further develop his game. Risk was low, upside better.

He's basically a return specialist, right? According to ESPN, he only has 7 tackles in his career.

I don't think he's going to get drafted, but maybe UFA.

Might not be anything more to prove. If he's not going to get playing time at DB, NFL teams have probably seen enough to make a decision at this point.

Best of luck to Dee in the NFL!

Maybe he’s just tired of college. Nothing wrong with getting signed as a UFA and making league minimum as a special teams guy. What’s that worth, like $750k/year? Not a bad deal!!!

Maybe it was just what he wanted? Maybe we have someone else who can do what he does? Maybe he didn't bring anything else to the team and these days returns are kind of a dying part of the game? Maybe UT needed the scholarship for someone else? Lots of possibles. Regardless, I wish him well. Good luck to him.
