What beat us tonight was not the long pass play near the end. It was being too scared to go for it on 4th and 1 with 50 seconds left in the half AND later failing to take the 5 yard penalty that would have put the ball on the one foot line to punch it in for a TD.

We should have easily been up by 2 scores. I KNEW those 2 moments would probably come back to bite us in the butt, and they certainly did.

Plus side:

- Good D for the most part, in spit of all the mixups.
- Over 200 yards rushing against a fairly good defensive front.
- More encouraged by OL play.

It's a testament to the inexperience and depth on the team.
We went with the sweeps too often and they adjusted.
If Chaney doesnt trust his qb, then its time to replace the damn qb.

the first half effort looked better this week.
defense eventually got gashed when it mattered most.

That’s what I saw. Play calling clearly trying to avoid JG having to make more than one read. Because he can’t. That curl to Palmer that saved us on the second OT was primary read. Thank goodness it was there.

They kick a field goal two drives before the hal and the last field goal to send it to OT is moot.

FYI, going for it on 4th and 1 from a position of desperation is playing not to lose.

Which is what we did late in the game when it was MUCH riskier. If you can't get 1 yard with 50 seconds to go in the half, fairly deep in their territory, don't deserve to win.

You forget one thing, Tennessee got the ball coming out of the half. You always take the points going into the half if you get the ball coming out of the half. Take the 3 and score coming out of the half is a 10 point swing.

Instead JG basically handed them 7 out of the half. It would've been too mean to score again and open the lead.

Took 7 from us because he can’t throw an accurate on time pass before the half, so we get 3 , coaches all but abandoned the passing game because of above reason.
Needed a spurrier like coach today, that would of switched QB in a heartbeat

Crouch makes the interception and we win. Lots of plays could have won the game. We just don't make 'em.

I thought the single moment that cost UT was when they chose to run it on 3rd and long under 2 minutes in the game. Go for the 1st down and get out of there. Plus your QB gets the opportunity to do something of great importance at the end of a game. Instead, they try to run the clock down and punt. At that point the game was lost, so let JG throw a pass and chalk it up as a learning experience. Hell, he might have completed it and got your ass out of there.

Decent game lost on a couple of bad decisions. I am not totally disappointed though. The players showed a lot of heart tonight.

Would’ve been a half the distance penalty, far from an automatic. I actually agree w the 4th down late in the game. Mind you, not a jet sweep as the call.
