Decade of change

There are two things that are really, really sad about this.

1. If you asked me to guess the record without posting it first, I would have guessed it was worse than 15 wins ...

2. Since 2000, Florida has had some pretty mediocre coaches and seasons. Alabama has had Saban for most of that time, and Richt never reached the promised land but had good teams. Florida though? They've had some pathetic seasons.
. Just 5 wins against Bama since 2000 absolutely disgusts me. Screw Mike Hamilton, Dave Hart , Kiffin and Dooley and Butch for leading us on a road to ruin but I see brighter days ahead now with Pruitt leading us.

A sobering stat was revealed to me the other day that since 2000 we have a combined record of 15-45 against Georgia , Florida and Bama I didn’t realize how badly we have fared against our 3 big rivals in the last 20 years especially this past decade. Here’s hoping as Pruitt said this decade is the decade of the Vols and we can get our record turned around against the big 3. I remember that not too long ago we led the head to head series against Florida and Georgia and only 5 wins behind Bama.
No offense, but you honestly didn’t? Where you been? I was honestly surprised to see that we have 15 wins vs those guys in that timespan.

We’ve never really beaten Florida in my lifetime (I’ll be 53 in June), Alabama is on a 13 game win streak vs Us, and Georgia’s been handing it to us since Fuller left.

Somebody correct me if I’m wrong but wasn’t the series with Bama tied up going into 1970?
Pretty much. After that, thanks to Battle and Majors, Bama took a big lead. Fulmer righted the ship in his time at Tennessee beating them 11 times....but since then, Bama has owned us, winning all 11 games post-Phil.

I hope Pruitt can turn that back around in our favor soon

We'll see what the stats are when this decade is over at the end of the year.
Hopefully, some of those numbers will have improved a bit.

did you wave to Pons' family when you flew over...:D

PS. trying to get my mind off this depressing thread...I've lived through it already...;)

GO BIG ORANGE!

I sincerely believe, for the first time since Kiffin was the coach, that Tennessee is about to start winning some of these games.

Despite the blowout, something changed in the Georgia game. There was more energy. More competitive. More life. Then watching the Alabama game it felt like I was witnessing a turning point. That should have been a very close game. Yes, I point the refs and BM's injury as reasons why it ended up being lopsided, and some people will call me a homer, but it was obvious to me that they weren't much better than us. And since then obviously we haven't lost a game so maybe it was indeed a turning point.

Now one of our biggest weaknesses (OL) has become a strength. An explosive talent has emerged at RB. Plus things are clicking for our front 7 and really our entire defense (giving up just 17.3 ppg since the UGA game). We need better play from the QB, so I'm not ready to predict a win against the big 3 but I do think we've got a chance. I want to say we'll beat UGA but should have one of the best defenses in recent college football history this year.

That's not the dumbest thing you've ever posted, but its pretty dumb.

Blah blah blah, yea I know, "but but but 9 times in.." Bad enough on its own and doesn't need you're stupidity.

I’d have a tough time naming the 15 Ws

Auburn is tied with us now as to wins over Bama, and they have 11 fewer losses.
They have also have played alot less games against them than we have they resumed the series in 1948 after like 25 years or so of not playing. But yea sadly they will probaly pass us in wins against them before we beat Bama again.

Since Spurrier, Florida turned the corner and now absolutely owns UT. Since Saban, Alabama absolutely owns UT. We’ve kept it somewhat competitive with Georgia. But all that’s in the past. Reset. In 2020 we are 0-0 against them.

It's really a damn shame that the last 20 years of our lives have been so screwed up with UT Football. Just think ; another 20 to possibly right some wrongs = HALF A LIFETIME! Don't these Tennessee Administrators GET IT?? Damn Hamilton for one!

We went 2-8 against UGA, 1-9 against UF and 0-10 against BAMA in the 10's. One of our 3 wins out of 30 games was a hail mary, things can only go up from there.

Step by slow step we ARE now climbing our way back up the steep mountain back to the top 10.

I believe that if we can keep Pruitt and good coaches that are also good recruiters that we WILL get back up there to where we've always belonged.

At my age I doubt it'll happen as fast as I want it to but I DO BELIEVE it's going to happen and it's nice to believe that we're finally on our way BACK!

VFL...GBO!!!
