I wonder if Slive is pressuring him to hold off on the announcement until the SECCG is over with. Maybe thinking that it would overshadow the game? (Which i doubt) Either way there will be alot of talk about the coaching change in Atlanta that week. I personally think he should make the announcement Monday, that will give Lane a good oppurtunity to speak to the national audience during the SECCG breaks.
Agree... I dunno that any coach signing would overshadow a possible match-up of #1 vs #2.

Hamilton has said all along when he wanted to hire the guy. Maybe he wanted to make sure that had the right guy? You think Kiffin is unproven, but then you call for Peterson? Lol, that's a joke, right?

At least Petersen has a winning record as a Head Coach. It show's you what kind of guy kiffin is for taking the Oakland job. Now you can laugh hv, because that is a joke.

and by the way, you don't have to become a marine to give your all. if you don't give your all everyday, no matter what it is, your a lazy bee otch. looking back old man, he did give us something to be proud of. he's gone now, so good riddance. and thats piss poor of you to compare soldiers to this.

I am a little hypersensitive since I have seen people on here explain how he has given his "All" as if it was some sort of selfless act. I saw 1 poster say they were in mourning and CPF himself comparing the past 3 weeks to a funeral.

That is obviously not how you meant it and I appreciate the explanation young lady.

I thought the same thing, but he would still have a bowl game.. Most likely a BCS bowl game.. That kinda changed my mind..

I am pretty sure when Kelly left Central Michigan for Cincinnati he skipped the bowl game. Remember when Cutcliffe skipped the NC game/Bowl game in 98 and bolted for Ole Miss? It is not that uncommon if the money and opportunity is right.

Yeah, because Peterson would have been so much better under Al Davis. That was a no win situation for Kiffin. Davis wouldn't let him build his own staff, let alone coach how he wanted. Peterson has won at BSU with a gimmicky offense. Wooooo. How awesome did he do against UGA a few years ago? Lane's offenses outproduced both Sarkisian's offenses and Chow's offenses and he was a great recruiter (he's the one that pushed PC to go further west in recruiting). He could also build a superstaff, unlike Peterson.

If UT hires Kiffin, UT will be looking for another coach in three years. By then, it will be too late to get Petersen. He'll be at another SEC school cutting our a$$.

Kiffin would bring Orgeron and maybe Reaves with him as well. I don't think I could put a better realistic staff together right now than that one.

That is true.. Rich Rod did it at WVU also..Never really think about it that way... I saw an article today that Kelly made a told his lawyers "He didn't want anything on his desk until the season was over" He didn't say anything about until the bowl game.. I'm trying to remember where I saw it....

Noone in the SEC is even looking at Peterson. The only school looking at him is Washington. Yeah, that's who we should be competing with for a coach. Who would be looking to him in the next 3 years? If Kiffin is gone in 3 years, it's because did great and scooted to the NFL.

So much reasoning in one post it's unbelievable.:snoring:

If not the SEC, then a big time conference.
Peterson is not going to go to a major conference. Dan Hawkins had good success at Boise, then he took a job at Colorado. How did that turn out for him? Boise and Peterson are shams, as big as he is going to get is Washington, and he will be about 8th on their list. From what I have heard Peterson was never even in discussion for the UT job.

I will say that he has to be itching to get back into coaching... If for no other reason it would be to show Al Davis up, plus we might get lucky and his dad would tag along in an effort to make his son look good since Davis basically called him a lying dog.. Of course that isn't saying much when it came from the Crypt keeper (Al davis)
