If it was kiffin, Then why would they wait so late to announce it and take a chance of losing more recruits. I think it's Petersen and they're waiting for the season to be over with.

I've never really been on fire for Kiffin myself but if he brings everything that everyone says he will to the table, I think he could do some patch work with our recruiting class. May not be as good as we like but it would be better than nothing.

True..(correct me if I am wrong on the following) I find it odd that Boyd has said he is coming either way..Kinda wierd how the timing worked out on that one.. Maybe kiffin is coming and has let players know.. That may be why Nunes backed out... Either way he committed 3 days before Fulmer retired, and said he is comming either way.. Almost like he knew what was/is going on..

so are ya gonna tell us where you are getting this from or what? Don't leave us hanging dude.

whether anyone likes to admit it, kiffin is a big hire. those of us that are fans love the way he stood up to al davis, he is big time and should bring a big time staff with him. he is an offensive genius and can recruit. once he is anounced and goes after these kids, you'll see a lot coming back. i know his record sucked with the raiders, but it soesn't matter, he coached in the nfl, his dad is monte kiffin, he will light these kids up. but i have heard , as most of you have that some recruits are waiting to see who it will be. pro style offense, steele? at dc, who wouldn't want to
play for these guys.

I think kiffin is the wrong guy. Talk about unproven. What has this guy done? How hard is it to recruit at USC. I could be the OC and get tons of 5* in there.

Stat of the Week

Let's put all of the Charlie Weis-to-the-NFL possibilities to bed, shall we? I've got the real number it would take to buy him out of his contract, which has nine years left to run at Notre Dame. That figure plus the fact that he doesn't want to leave should take him out of the NFL pool for the foreseeable future.

The rock-solid, no-exceptions buyout number for Weis from Notre Dame: $21 million.
http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2007/writers/peter_king/01/14/playoffs/4.html
That was written prior to the 2007 and 2008 seasons.

While his contract is not public, it is widely held that he is making about 2 and a half million a year. So knock two years off of that 21 million number and you have the amount that it would take to buyout his contract currently which stands at 16 million. TRUTH.

Out of respect for Fulmer. And also because some of Kiffin's potential assistants could still be involved with their respective teams.

I think they should announce the new head coach at the end of the first quarter during Phil Fulmer Day. Would that be rude?

Maybe.. I'm not sure who it will be... I'm not even sure who I would like to see after all I have read..lol.. but I do like Peterson.. Not sure how he would fit in at UT but I do like him.. Plus the stadium would look cool with a UT orange field..:good!:

Hamilton has said all along when he wanted to hire the guy. Maybe he wanted to make sure that had the right guy? You think Kiffin is unproven, but then you call for Peterson? Lol, that's a joke, right?

And despite what people think, Hamilton actually does wanna let CPF have his moment instead of overshadowing it with the announcement of his successor.

I wonder if Slive is pressuring him to hold off on the announcement until the SECCG is over with. Maybe thinking that it would overshadow the game? (Which i doubt) Either way there will be alot of talk about the coaching change in Atlanta that week. I personally think he should make the announcement Monday, that will give Lane a good oppurtunity to speak to the national audience during the SECCG breaks.

When he started, USC was in the tank and it was very hard. He helped Pete turn the program around.

In addition, he is rumored to have a few very qualified assistants lined up.

to give fulmer some respect. he's sucked for awhile now, but he's given his all for ut, sometimes good and lately just awful, but he thought he was doing a good job and could get back to where he was in the '90's. everyone always wants to talk use paterno as an example of 'just give him one more year', well the difference is paterno handed over the reigns. do you really think paterno knows what hd of turbo is? and that was fulmers downfall, he let chavis do his thing, but once cutcliff left was almost paranoid or something adn would call majority of what he wanted. but anyway, just to give the man some respect.

Yea I think so too.. Plus I would think that you wouldn't want to miff FP off anymore.. I would think he still has a lot of pull in K-town.. I would think he could still make MH,s life fairly bad.. I realize that PF is ticked off already, but I think MH is hoping to smooth it over the best he can... FP may even take Mh's job someday..lol

Well its a shame if only MH knows who he is hiring, leaving our "verbals hanging". And is it true that Oku is opening up to other schools ? (omg the saints cheerleaders are hot !!! they just showed them)

What the HE** does that mean. I see pictures weekly of people who have give their all to something (i.e. flagged draped caskets from Iraq). What "ALL" has CPF given.

his all is what he gave, it doesn't mean it was satisfying to us, his employers. he became complacent, he was giving his all, but his all wasn't there anymore.

Dec. 8th sounds about right. Brian Kelly's last game is on the 6th and they like to announce things like this on Mondays for some reason which would be the 8th. Brian Kelly announced on the 8th????? I don't know for sure if it is Kelly, but I think he stands a good chance, and it will either be him or Kiffin. I really don't think it will be anyone else. I think it will be one of these guys.

and by the way, you don't have to become a marine to give your all. if you don't give your all everyday, no matter what it is, your a lazy bee otch. looking back old man, he did give us something to be proud of. he's gone now, so good riddance. and thats piss poor of you to compare soldiers to this.

We will hear when the time is right, I know it is hard to wait and not know who it will be. There is an old saying "Silence is Golden" lets hope that it is true and whomever is selected we swallow our anger if it is not our pick and support the new coach. I remember the Bill Battle era, Doug Dickey and Johnny Majors teams and even though I have wanted CPF gone since 2000 he brought more pride into this program and a winning tradition not seen since Neyland. C'Ya Phil, Hello Coach ______ go kick the tide and gators a$$

I thought the same thing, but he would still have a bowl game.. Most likely a BCS bowl game.. That kinda changed my mind..
