No. Both are important.

They are, but HC is far more important. We can’t afford to have a totally trash class (like a top 35 type class), but if we get a good coach and have a class ranked #23 for example (assuming we get all the players we need for depth purposes), that’s acceptable.

The only guy still standing from the initial “up and comer” list is Norvell. I don’t know why they are not rumored to be after him.

But, everyone else is gone or not coming.

There are not a lot of options here

And I just read that Arky may go after him now. I wouldn't hate a Norvell hire. I just have a bad feeling it will be Miles.

Some schools have excessively vindictive fan bases. Some schools have fan bases with unreasonable expectations. Tennessee excels in both areas. The amount of money and the buyout requirements are staggering for this particular position. Gonna have to pay up, but I'm sure UT has the resources and the determination.

Wait until December 23. If Toledo knocks out Appalachian State in their bowl game, giving the Rockets a 12-win season for the first time in 46 years, that should be where the coaching search should zero in.

We'll have a coach within a week. The recruits will basically decide once a coaching announcement is made, no need to rush. We just have to hope they like the name of whoever we get.

Mike leach is the best answer left why are so many against him? He wins with 3 stars everywhere he goes.

Leach also has baggage and has not been a championship coach. But at this point, I would be okay with it.

I don’t think it’s about whether fans are against him or not, it’s whether Tennessee decision makers are and that seems to be the case.

We know that’s the case with Kiffin.

Sumlin is the other guy who is available

Petersen hasn't said a word.

Marrone is a hire that would be a home run and realistic, IMO.

I wouldn't be surprised if he is announced new HC sometime this week.

Miles is another Fulmer clone. No thanks.

Unfortunately, this about sums it up.

Been some rumors floated that Norvell may have a few gambling skeletons in the closet. I don't understand why there isn't any interest in Todd Graham though from some of these schools. Norvell coached under him at every stop until Memphis.

Fulmer is in the land of coordinators or someone like Miles at this point.

No way he hires anyone like Leach or anyone running a modern offense. Too far outside his comfort zone IMO. I fully expect to be completely underwhelmed by Fulmer as AD. He was a self promoter over a coach like Butch before Butch.

We need a coach by Tuesday, to give him at least two weeks to get some recruits in here. I think we need to try to get a few that we lost and make up for them. Honestly, I think we need one by tomorrow. We can’t set around to much longer, can we?

The last time we rushed a hire to save a recruiting class we ended up with Derek Dooley. Getting the hire right is critical. If we have to sacrifice this class to do that so be it. If the class ends up being not what it should it could set us back a year or two. If we botch another hire it may very well set us back a decade.

Supposedly be questionable background check. Hubbs said Fulmer met Chad Morris in Dallas yesterday.

Why did'nt anyone else hire Fulmer if he was such a great hire?

I never thought Fulmer was a great coach. He loves TN but not a great coach. Always thought Cutcliffe was the brains of the operation and it shows in his record with and without Cutcliffe.

I like the wait and get a good coach idea. The suspense is the killer in the situation! I really hope Fulmer can get his head wrapped around the importance of this coaching hire. I don't want to see his present situation pollute his past successes. I am concerned about all of the money the University has spent so far having an effect of the type of coach that can be obtained. I do not think this class is the issue as much as getting somebody that will make UT Football relevant again.

Marrone is a Kirk Cousins trade/signing from having a legit Super Bowl contender.

He’s not leaving the Jags
