The highest 4 ranked conference champs get the top 4 seeds. SMU doesn’t have to be anything but ACC Champ. Boise and Big 12 winner are irrelevant to SMU securing a bye

Meant to say it will NOT be an issue if SMU wins, but it will if they lose.

Better resume than Bama. Better team than Bama. I’m sure you’ll use head-to-head as a trump card, but that was a road game for SC and Bama barely survived. Bama’s loss to Oklahoma is the worst loss of any playoff contender besides Notre Dame. They also have the bad loss to Vandy. All of SC’s losses came to teams with 8+ wins.

Vandy is a bad loss while Vandy is a good win for Texas and Tennessee?

Head to head should always trump all when records are the same.

South Carolina also lost to Ole MIss and didn't even score 1 TD. They should be 3rd in the bish fest department for 3 loss SEC teams that are hoping to make the playoffs.

Totally agree. People want to talk about how impressive bama has been but forget the fact that they have had two losses this year to inferior teams. That Oklahoma loss should have been the nail in the coffin.

If South Carolina were to get in, which I don't believe they will, I think they'd beat Notre Dame in the 1st round. In fact, if I were a ND fan, I might rather play Bama than South Carolina right now.

Bama’s resume is better than SCAR. Better FPI ranking, better SOR, better SOS, and a head-to-head win on top of that. I posted the data in another thread.

Your opinion is fueled by an emotional hatred of Bama - nothing more, nothing less.

But you can't ignore head to head matchups. Trust me, I would prefer that bama had no chance in hell of getting into the playoffs but unfortunately they do.

You don’t know me very well. Only thing I care about with respect to the playoffs is Tennessee winning a natty. I’d much rather play Alabama so I hope they do get in.

I agree, but Alabama’s body of work is better, so they deserve it over SC. I don’t think anyone would argue differently by looking at the metrics side by side unless they have an inherent bias against the Tide.

I’ve made my case for them, but I understand that the majority doesn’t see things the way I do - and I think the committee will agree with the majority.
