Debt Limit Bottom Line

Here ya' go. He even included a trigger for across the board cuts in most programs in case the cuts did not materialize! Sound familiar? It should. That has been a major GOP plan component for quite some time.

Obama Plan To Cut Deficit | Obama deficit: Obama plan would cut deficit by $4 trillion - Los Angeles Times

Did you actually read the article? There are no real cuts mentioned. There is an ambiguous reference to savings from his health care reform. Few if any now believe the lie that his "reforms" will result in less spending. There is a reference to tax code reform. As much as libs like to repeat that lie, it is not a "spending cut" to take more money from the private sector through taxation.

Please quote a single place where there was a legitimate cut specified or detailed.

McCain: The TP members of the House have no clue what they are doing. They do not understand how the process works and are putting all sorts of standard GOP mantra crap into play, like balanced budget amendment conditions, etc.

That stuff is so Contract on America vintage garbage. So unsophisticated. Pathetic.

Tea Party Hobbits, indeed!

You are so blind it is ridiculous. You keep saying Obama has specified cuts but cannot even find them yourself... but you are sure he has because you need it to be true. At the same time, you condemn the TP for being specific and for demanding that those they put in power actually do something this time rather than playing politics like the GOP has every other time.

They understand EXACTLY how the process (does not) work. They KNOW what business as usual is and what it looks like. They have seen what politicians actually do after declaring that they have "cut" the budget. They (and the country) have been betrayed by the GOP repeatedly who claim to be fiscally conservative but then capitulate every time a liberal says "boo". I am sure Boehner, McCain, and every other establishment Rep would LOVE to cut and run right now. They'd love a replay of what happened last year where they get to declare victory while doing absolutely nothing but rolling over for the left.

You and the left are ticked. Sorry about that. Now you know how those involved in the TP and the 50%+ of the US population that agrees with them on fiscal issues have felt for a long, long time.

OPEN YOUR EYES. This is what Obama wants- He wants tax increases NOW. He wants to claim budget cuts NOW but have the specifics worked out and supposedly implemented in the distant future. All the cuts proposed will be heavily back loaded so that if they were by some miracle to actually take place... no one can blame him.

I am not making this up LG. It is what the man said the other day in his press conference. He specifically said that he wanted the tax increases now but that spending cuts would have to come later. He again offered no specifics on the cuts except that someone else would have to propose them.

I don't trust the GOP. For the most part I don't even like them. I am EXTREMELY skeptical of ANY and ALL plans proposed by these characters. I want to KNOW the cuts are real. (No one has proposed real cuts yet btw).

You are just a fool for the Dems and Obama but relish in the arrogance of accusing others of being simple and naive. Classic liberalism on display.

Wait, I found the plan! Only problem is that it's secret

On debt deal, Daley tells Blitzer: "We are optimistic" – CNN Press Room - CNN.com Blogs

BLITZER: So what you're saying is the president did present a plan to the speaker, John Boehner.
DALEY: Yes.
BLITZER: But - but he didn't...
DALEY: Right.
BLITZER: - make it public.
DALEY: No, because there's... both the speaker and - and the president had agreed and - that these sort of negotiations do not happen in public. There's not a plan out there in the public realm, whether it's the fiscal commission, whether it's the Gang of Six, whether it's Congressman Ryan's plan - Congressman Ryan's plan lost in the Senate overwhelmingly.
So there's no plan that's out there, by any of these people who are saying this, that has any sort of chance of passing both houses and getting signed by the president.
great stuff from the admin that is self-described as "the most open and transparent in history"

Is any bill with a Balanced Budget Amendment DOA in the senate? If not, I could see them kicking the can on this as long as the BBA gets passed.

Reid press conference about made me vomit. Completely blamed the Repubs for being unwilling to debate after not even allowing Boehner's bill to get a vote.

Reid tabled both bills sent to him by the House rather than let the American people hear debate on them. Not playing politics though... and the Dems have a plan. LG said so.

I know it's CYA and not having to take a position on a balanced budget but this crap of tabling to kill rather than voting against is pussary.

6 Rs voted to table - I can only guess they didn't want to explain why they voted against a balance budget amendment.

Yep. The sooner the Senate comes to its natural equillibrium the better. Thirty red states should easily produce a near permanent GOP and Conservative majority. Often it should be filibuster proof.

The Progressive GOP establishment types need to go ahead and realign with the Dems where they belong.

If they don't get something together tonight I have a bad feeling about the markets tomorrow, I hope I am wrong.

Our company sent out an office wide email Friday with our official response to the debt ceiling if clients are freaking out.
