Debord

The fact that AK had only 3 touches (1 of which was after the instant replay debacle) and J. Smith no receptions is really most telling. Got to give our playmakers a chance to do something out there. Right now the offensive play calling is bland and predictable, plain and simple.

Big 10 football, baby!

Watching these other teams we need a new OC

Houston has a QB that is more of a runner than passer, like Dobbs, and with the use of lots of swing passes and underneath routes they beat Oklahoma. We have to find a way to get the passing game going or teams are going to load up on our boring running game and shut us down. I know Dobbs missed quite a few passes in the App St game but our offense looked boring and predictable on every level

Terrible play calling , mediocre o line is hamstringing talented roster; Debord is de-boring; IMO

Wish UT would bring in an offensive "consultant" like Bama just did with Sark. UF did something similar with Spurrier, who's working with the QBs and offering input on playcalling.

Just curious, how many people think this is just a case of first game and playing vanilla offense. Starting this week, they turn it on and look like they did against Northwestern, GA, most of the OU and FL games last year?

I saw too many shortcomings with this team. OLine is the most concerning, but there wasn't a lot to like about what I saw on offense. I think the defense will only get better with time, but I know I am very concerned about what this team will do against VT and the four game gauntlet coming up...

Sounds like most are willing to forgive Butch for this hire and accept it if things continue DeBoring. I thing the responsibility is with the coach that's trying to make Dobbs one dimensional for his health.

This is what separates us from the top teams around the country. They go looking for the best hire you can get and we find an old retired friend. Only things I can fault butch for is oc hire, not getting a real qb coach and coaching games scared(not beating good teams). The shoop hire shows hes willing to step out, lets hope he does it for the offense sooner rather than later.

I would take the Clawfence all day over this garbage we run. 2 of the best backs in college, badass WRs, 2 if not 3 capable QBs....WTF!

I guess I just don't understand this affection with bashing our offensive style all of a sudden. We ranked awfully high in most categories last year outside of passing. Given an accurate QB who knows what type of juggernaut this scheme could make. Are people basing this solely off of Thursday (which was putrid OLine play)? If that's the case I submit the entire 2015 season as evidence to the contrary.

Like I said. Worst move Butch has made and it isn't close.

What many of you have to realize is that this is CBJ offense not DeBo's. When he coached at Meecheegan he ran I- formation and play action off of it. Flash back to the 2000 Citrus Bowl that was his offense with Navarre, Askew, and the big Wr #1. They also had a big TE who was effective likewise. If in doubt of these faces look back at CMU offense and Cincy too. CBJ hired a guy he felt he could bring in and tell him how to run the offense. So all the DeBo talk has to cease because it is not factual. Now the worse hire has been a liability since his arrival and that's Mahoney and the OL coaching

Neither side of the ball did in hopes of not showing Va Tech anything which is dumb to say the least. Fake smart guy coaching coming from the top. Lot's of mid major tactics to say the least.

Yep, good teams shouldn't have to do that crap. Just stupid and almost cost us a horrifically embarrassing loss.

I like how strong the O line looks and how much he's utilized Kamara.

Debord gets to the press box 3 hours prior to game time to go over in his head different play calls and the game plan.
Debord's been working like heck since he came out of retirement...
