Debord

More tired conspiracy bull. From the makers of Colton Jumper's daddy bought him a starting gig. :scare:

Time to send DeBord to the local retirement center.

Not sure Debord is the entire problem. When you have a QB that is extremely reckless with the ball and at any time he is a Fumble or int waiting to happen. Dobb's kinda ties Debord's hand when it comes to play calling. They only let him throw the same couple of passes over 15-20 yards. When you can't use the whole playbook because either the QB can't make the passes or Debord has little trust in his starting QB. No way a SR QB with as many games under his belt that he has should he continues making FR mistakes and just throwing up asses with 5 defenders standing there waiting on it is inexcusable. I'm honestly to the point where I say put Dormady or JG in and let them take their lumps but there will still be more good than bad. Dobb's unfortunately is having way more bad than good.

We have to rehash "Debord sucks" again this year. I remember the threads from last year and just waiting for someone to argue that the players need to make plays. To that person I say Hurd did make plays. he turned a 1 yard gain into 2 quiet often.
Excuse me while I slide on over to the OL thread. I've got :twocents: to give.

Funny how no one is saying squat about Shoop's suffocating defense last night.....SARCASM....

Appy did just about anything they wanted and Shoop didn't have very many answers with MORE than enough talent at his disposal....

It's a first game and we barely won....I can live with it...extremely disappointed, but we will know more when we play VA. Tech next.....

GO VOLS!

I really don't know what to think about Debord. He seems to have an NFL mentality to run the ball on second down no matter what and to be stubborn when something doesn't work time after time. Not very imaginative. At this point I'm not a fan.

Like I said. Worst move Butch has made and it isn't close.
There has been so many bad môves by Butchy that it's hard to figure out which is the worst. Seems that the only thing he's good at is getting thugs and himself out of trouble. Sad, really sad.

Debord might be the worst hire we have ever seen.

Yeah....he looked like it in the Northwestern game....

Our team was flat....our OL had their head up their collective behinds....and Coleman Thomas looked like he had no clue....

We should've been able to line up and run the ball at will against Appy.....NO problem with the game plan....Dobbs dropped back plenty of times to throw the ball, but had to run for his life--even when Appy was rushing 3 against our 5 OL...truly pathetic....that game was ALL on the players...there is no other excuse.

There has to be a team leader on the field....from within those Seniors....and I didn't see any of those guys appear to be ready to play...and they have to OWN IT! It's their last chance at UT....

From Sutton's first fumble to JRM's mistake on the punt coverage team to Dobbs' just throwing the ball up for an interception....very, very poor performances around....

Sutton did redeem himself and make a great play....Abernathy played well....Hurd was running with passion...but no one was blocking with it...:salute:

Debord definitely is not afraid to waste downs. The problem with that is when you do it with an up tempo offense.

I swear Debord is holding this team back. I think we would be better off with random playcalls. The guy continues to be committed to the run even when other teams are committed to stopping it and stacking the box.

Its' not even that we are running the ball so much that bothers me, but the fact that we are not deceptive at all about it. Hurd up the middle, hurd to the left, Hurd to the left, Punt..Before Debord came we would let Dobbs run with an outside option, or put two backs in, or do some end arounds..the things is we changed it up. Tonight, we didn't even stretch or challenge the defense. We just ran right into them. Truly painful to watch.
It sort of reminds me of a B1G conference mentality. I remember watching Wisconsin hand the ball off to Ron Dayne on about every play and maybe throw 5 passes a game. Of course those Badger teams had a bunch of AAs on their OL who were actually able to open big holes for the great one to breakaway.

Debord has a lot of explaining to do.

His answer is Butch hired me. He used to be Butches boss so it was a friend hire instead of a good hire. Debord is a mid major/old early 2000's big ten coach. Not the same as a modern age sec coach. He isn't equipped for what we need.

I still say we need to play the old way and open most games with a deep ball first play on offense, whether cauth or not it will force the dedence to play loose

That's what we got. Old school Big Ten offense. Butch knew what he hired. Hurd is not capable of hitting a homerun. He is good for pounding and 13 yard runs but not homeruns!! There is no Ron Dayne or even a Percy Harvin factor.

It's as if they knew what we were going to do and when we were going to do it offensively. How is that possible? Do they have our playbook? A crystal ball? Magic 8-ball? NO it is just plain ole predictability.

App State scored 13 points in the game. We should beat any team any where any time any place that we hold to 13 points total. Our problems as a team last night were not the defenses to shoulder IMO.

Just plain ole predictability. Run, run, screen pass, pun. Run, sacked, 2 yard pass, punt.

yep, its like he was trying to be one dimensional. There was zero in the dynamic column. Where was the play calling from the bowl game against a defense that was very similar? There was an agenda here, and I think they were too cocky or overestimated how good we were, which is understandable but make the adjustment in the second half to put up some points which they DID NOT do. I just don't understand it.
