DeBord is coming (merged)

I really love this type of fan.. Really isn't happy with anything..train wreck haha yea Butch would do that I'm sure the chemistry is already there since they've worked together and basically gave Butch his big time but what would I know I'm just a fan, that can think reasonable

Here comes the true fan talk...

Forgive me for not being happy about the boring safe comfort hire.

This is Tennessee, not mid Tennessee state where they are proud to have a mediocre coach.

We deserve to have the best of the best after all that is what butch pounded his chest about time and again.

So settling for bargain basement bargain bin Debord isn't right for Tennessee.

So Michigan is MTSU..? How bout we wait and see how it plays out.. This could be Butch's Cutcliffe.. I'm not playing the true fan I'm just being reasonable.. But that's unheard of in the football forum. My fault..

The reality is that the athletic department is broke and DeBord is all we could afford. It is sad the financial slide the athletic department has fell in to. A decade with no bowl game revenue sure didn't help.
This statement proves you don't have any idea what you're talking about.

The UT AD get's in excess of $22mill per year just in TV contract revenue. Bowl game revenue is split equally among ALL SEC Teams, regardless of whether they played in a bowl game or not. This Dept isn't broke and isn't in the dire straits many like you try to depict it as being.

Are we raking in as many donation dollars as Bama, LSU or UGA...no. But winning will take care of that, by itself.

On the recruiting trail, YES.

On the field...NO.

He's 12 & 13 in two seasons. Jury is still out, but returns thus far don't demand worship of the guy. All the more reason not to halt the momentum the recruiting has generated, with a hiring of a crony who doesn't even FIT....something Butch said was paramount for him.

Newsflash. DeBord is the WORST fit Butch could have sought. DeBoring ran a pro-style, ball-control...eat time off the clock, offense. Conversely, Butch runs a fast-paced, zone read offense...designed to run more and more offensive plays. Not less. It's designed to go go fast to wear teams down, rather than trying to keep the opponents offense off the field as long as possible. His offensive philosophy/concepts run completely counter to DeBord's.

So, with that being the case, what's all this BS about FIT? DeBord is NOT a good fit. Can he ADAPT/CHANGE?....maybe. But if that is what we are talking about, then it has NOTHING to do with....FIT.

It's more about past coaching relationships. The whole FIT routine was just a line of BS, as was this spurious coaching search. He never conducted any damn search. He called his bud up, had him in for a few days and hired him on the spot.

Notice in the NSD celebration last night...Butch caught himself saying they would try to HIRE by the end of the week. Before the word HIRE got completely out of his mouth....he paused and stated....ANNOUNCE.

He knows this whole search was a ruse. I like Butch in many regards, BUT I'M NOT GOING TO KNEEL DOWN, LICK HIS BOOTS AND WORSHIP THE GUY like some of the sheep here, do.

No one does that...if you were to try it, I don't think Butch would be on board...might press charges. :)

This could be Fulmers Clawson. If it works out I'll make my own thread serving my own crow and an open letter of appoligy to Debord. I doubt very seriously that I am wrong.

So, riding on the coattails of the elite SEC teams?

When is the CBJ presser about the hire?
Probably 0 dark 30, while everyone is asleep.

Otherwise, fans driving while listening might hear the name and fall asleep at the wheel or while operating machinery :)

As I read all the "gloom and doom" on this board regarding this hire, I'm taken back to some of the same things I read when Butch was hired and we all know how that worked out....I'm with you...see how it "plays out" and then scream or shift gears....it's possible there may be a lot of shifting gears a la Butch.....

Fulmer only worked with Clawson for a year while he worked with Cut many years, same with Debord and Butch.. Kinda makes sense that Clawson didn't work out well with Fulmer.. They didn't share the same ideas.. Same chemistry. See where I'm coming from?

My father and I were discussing this earlier and then did a little research on debord.

So our offense right now is the the zone read offense and is actually the inside veer adapted to a 1 back set? Debord ran the veer at Michigan and Miami. Sounds like a good fit huh!
