DeBord is coming (merged)

From a friend who is a Michigan fan: "DeBord is widely disliked by Michigan fans for running the most predictable offenses of the Lloyd Carr era ("When Mike Debord plays rock-paper-scissors, he always picks rock."). He was also the OC when Michigan shredded the Gators in 2007 (when Florida had Tebow and Urban) and that offensive game plan was great. Maybe he's learned?"

So, Jones has interest from Michigan, supposedly, and, shortly thereafter, gets a raise from Tennessee. Michigan's head coaching search is run by DeBord, who is, shortly thereafter, hired by Tennessee as OC, despite having shaky credentials.

Hmm, sounds a little fishy to me.

let the rebuilding continue

Don't think it's necessarily rebuilding, rather, continuation. I like Butch's system, but didn't necessarily think Bajakian dialed up the right plays at the right times last year. If this guy can do that due to his experience, well then he's an upgrade, in my book.

Me too

You're contradicting your own point.

VQ already proved it from sources from both Michigan and UT. That's where I got it.

I still have not seen it anywhere except opinion.
And isn't it odd you'd have to require presence at practice?
I wanna coach that tears the bars off the doors to get there.
In short- you are reaching

And yet your statement says Debord didn't win a NC. Someone else won it for him...

Isn't he going to be the OC here? Isn't that the same position he held at MI when they won their NC? If the D plays lights out and he does enough with the O to win a NC, I'll be happy. What will you be *****ing about then?

In the coaching community he is extremely well regarded.

Don't just look at the past and his numbers.

He is a good fit for this team.

Our O line play will be so much better.

Plus, Butch is going to shuffle a few things IMO.

Do you know who will coach QB's?

Can't wait to see folks on here when we start the jet sweep/bubble screen/read opt dance and the whole time this guy looks confused .... Butch blows a gasket like he has many times on the sideline and has to walk over and yell at Grandpa!

Remember when Jancek and the rest of the staff were all terrible hires ? I'll let the season play out and see what happens

What is their actual W/L record again? Muschamp recruited great classes to Florida. Don't put the cart before the horse.

Debord:
"Say, Butch....you remember when you had no coordinator experience at this level and I gave you your first big shot, at Cent. Mich."

Butch:

"Yes, Mike, I do....and I want you to know I'm extremely grateful for it."

Debord:

"Well, as fate would have it, I've been out of coaching work for few years, now for some strange reason nobody's even called me about an OC job since Lloyd Carr and I got canned in 2007....and I hear that Bajakian has moved on to Tampa.

Butch:
"Uhhhhhh, yeah, annnnnnnd?"

Debord:
"And now would be a really good time to return the favor....ole buddy of mine! Sound good?"

Butch:
"Uuuuuhhhhhh....Mike....I ahhh, uuuuhhhhh. Well, you see, I haven't even had a chance to start a formal search and all, and these fans here in Tennessee...they're the most passionate fanbase in the country, but that means they'll also roast me on the grille if I don't get us some Wins in the SEC, soon. And my boss, Dave Hart, well he...."

DeBoring:
"Great! It sounds like a plan then. When do I start as your new Offensive Coordinator?"

Butch:
"Uuuuuuuhhhh. Maybe we should hold off until NSD. I'm hearing a lot of rumbling around here, and we wouldn't want to stall the momentum we have in recruiting."

Most boring unfunny account of a fake conversation ever...projecting your sense of humor on this Nuttin? :w00t:

We all knew it.... now that Butch has everyone elated with our signing class, he pays his old mentor back and hires a guy who isn't even coaching, or even coaching as an OC.... I get that he is brought in just to run the existing system and that is all well and good, but this is not a long-term solution. Heard he is one hell of a recruiter though... wait, never mind.... Just can't understand why he would smokescreen for so long and actually ACT like he was looking at other folks and he was "humbled" at the interest in the job- BS. Oh well, hope someone gives him enough coffee if we play any night games so he stays awake at the wheel....

He's younger than Saban, Les Miles, and Cutcliffe and the same age as Chavis. Just admit you wanted a sexy hire. Coach Z is reported to be receiving a bump in title and pay as well so these events are more than likely connected. Probably safe to say that he's being hired to give Z some training wheels until he's ready to wield the offense on his own. If we take the sexy hire where does that leave Z? Probably gone. I like having Coach Z, so I like having Coach DeBord.
